Is Lost worth watching?

Right, I'm sure most of you know by now I'm a tv show freak..
but i've not really ever seen a single episode of Lost, and have run out of tv shows to watch, so considering to start it..

Though I had heard from a few people that it was only good in the first season, and after that just got really shit..

so basically, is it any good? Shall I start watching it?
Will I get bored with the whole show having the same surroundings (an island i'm presuming?) for 4 straight seasons?
 
No you will not get bored. Seriously you need to watch it, absolute class. Make sure you stick with it, it's worthit.
 
One of the best TV shows I've ever watched. Takes some patience and a good attention span but worth it.
 
It's hugely overrated in my opinion. If you haven't watched the Sopranos or the Wire, watch them first.
 
Go with Dexter and Jericho. But truth is, if you're as fanatic about tv shows as you make out, you'll end up watching Lost sooner or later.
 
definitely watch it, and as it will be on dvd, you wont notice the boring episodes that are scattered about.
 
Don't watch it, It's too long! The first season is gripping, the second season is okay and then after that it's just turns shit,confusing and boring!

Just cos you can't follow it
 
First season is class, zain. It got all the critical acclaim and rightly so. After that they went dowm the route of every commercial American TV show so S2 and S3 are not that good and many episodes in the middle are down rigth awful. But as whole the series is still worth a watch, S1 a must IMO.
 
Lost it's charm for me as the episodes have gone on (pun intended), still watching it at the moment only because the missus is a Lost freak.
 
First seasons great, the second and third seasons are messy though its now back to great again, they've settled on shorter seasons (16 episodes) and they know it'll end after season 6 which gives the writers an exact idea of how long they need to stretch the mystery, its worth watching.
