Is it true about Veron`s contract?

Sometimes I read posts by people who obviously ARE in the KNOW - can someone of that kind tell me what they have heard through contacts about Veron`s contract?

I read on this board a while ago that supposedly Veron`s contract has the clause that he MUST play every game he is available to play. In other words, unless he is sick or injured he must be in the starting line up. If that is true, Manchester United gave itself a raw deal when he signed.

NO PLAYER should be guaranteed a starting line up place. That should be down to form, ability, drive to win, etc. Someone like Keano doesn`t need a clause like that in his contract because he virtually selects himself, such is his drive, hunger and passion.

So - please tell me those who have contacts in Old Trafford or those in charge of this board who are so knowledgeable or anybody who has heard anything. I`d LOVE to know if MU shot itself in the foot when it drew up Seba`s contract.

that's the same i heard. can anyone confirm? i can hardly use my own opinion here as being valid since i do not know the truth either.

i also heard this about Big Pete contract with Aston Villa.. the fallout finally came when Big Pete was told he's not in the plans.. was that what happened?

I doubt that anyone on here would know such detail for sure.

And I would be amazed if he had such a clause. I just can't see Fergie allowing it.

I don't think you will get that degree of insight in JSV's contract.

Event though our defence is leaking, you won't have that kind of info flying out in the open.

If there is ONE thing Fergie has abt total control over; it's contracts and methods of contacting other squads, agents and players.

And if someone leaks that kind of info out in the press he (Fergie) WILL lie abt it, and do anything he can to weaken those claims.

I am sure Fergie has done ALOT of shady things. I am sure Stam told the truth in his book, and we all know what happened to him.

IF Fergie was STUPID enough to sign JSV with such clauses we will never know until long after Fergie and/or JSV is out of the saga.

But it IS an interesting idea. It would explain alot of things, not only abt JSV. I have wondered many times why Fergie in the past has insisted on using an expensive players time and time again, even though the players constantly did let the team down.

I don't think we are talking abt a 100% first team-line-up. But maybe 80-90% perhaps?

Just speculations this is. Interesting, but still just speculations.

Veron never played against Chelsea @ Stamford Bridge this year, he was on the bench........ but thats one game from only 2 seasons that I remember Veron on the bench..

I very much doubt such a clause exists, let alone is in force.

He has to worry about a work permit doesnt he. That would be a far more plausible explanation as to why he keeps playing even though he is consistently gash.

He has to play in 80% of the game when he is fit. As to whether he has a clause in his contract saying he must playing in all games he's available. I doubt whether anyone apart from the parties involved would really know.
All i would say is he would be the first to have such a clause, allegedly. Kliuvert has apparently got one in his Barca contract

Who was Seba or Kliuvert?
If you're talking about Seba i think you're confusing playing with performing

Thought it was 75%?

SAF would be stupid to sign a contract saying the player must play in whatever percentage of games. A player must earn his place, I'd feel sick if a player was getting games for United because of some silly clause.

Thank you very much for putting me straight. <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

Wasn't that one of the dodgy ones.
? At the time of the transfer i remember some people saying that was one of the major reasons why Lazio wanted rid of him. (as well as the £28million to help their dire finances) If it got investigated he risked being banned.

That is actually still going on in court (independent of FAs and FIFA as it's forgery, pure and simple) and he could "go to jail" -i.e. they won't really bother come after him but he cannot set foot in Italy.

I know there are two possible explanations - challenging Fergie and the threat of action against United.

I have never understood the logic of the second. Fergie taps Jaap. Jaap writes about it in his book. United are scared that EUFA will investigate the claims, so they sell Jaap.

Why does selling Jaap mean that EUFA dont investigate?

Err, maybe there is no logic? If UEFA were going to investigate they wouldn't care whether Jaap stayed or was sold. We'll never know Fergie reasons (and I for one believe it DOES have something to do with Jaap's form but that the book is also involved), but the fear of an investigation is not part of it.
