Is Fabregas a likely target?

This thread is similar to the one about Wilshere.

Would anyone agree that Fabregas is a realistic target, we are all aware that he would like to play for Barca sometime in his career but at this moment in time it is clear he would not play ahead of the likes of Xavi, iniesta or Messi and the likelihood is that his only chance would be to replace Xavi in a few years or until he retires.

So in the meantime, is it possible he could replace Scholes in our midfield and then at some point move to Barca?

I see this as a win-win, we get him for around £40m, and after 3-4 years we sell him to Barca for around the same price.

Also, looking at his body language and some of his recent performances it seems he is not entirely happy at Arsenal, and i cannot see him moving to any other London or Spanish clubs so why not United?

Can you really see Arsenal selling him to us?

Besides I can't see SAF wanting to pay anywhere near the £40m mark on one player.

No chance.

We wouldn't buy a player who would cost in excess of 40/45m minamum.

Arsene wouldn't sell us his best player. Or to there biggest title rivals.

We wouldn't buy a player who has asperations of playing for another club before he has even stepped foot in the door.

So no, definatley not.

But it was always clear he wasn't going to walk into that Barca side, yet he has said before he would like to go. He is still quite young and it seems the plan would for him to take over after Xavi.

If he leaves Arsenal there is only one place I see him going.

Probably easier to just buy Xavi.

No chance.

For one his heart is set on a move to Barcelona one day. Two, he loves Arsenal.

And lastly I just don't see how Wenger would allow the club /or authorise the sale of our best player to our biggest rival to the title. Not only would it weaken us, it would strengthen United in the one area they need it most.

I think we should bid for him, only cost's a fax. I'd say he's worth upwards of 45million in this market.

You're right, he's unhappy at Arsenal - can't see him staying there this season. He's too unsettled.

Do you think Wenger'll sell him this year?

He's had his head turned by Barcelona, youse lot should be taking the pay day because your midfields still going to be good without him.

all it takes is for a player to say that he wants to leave

What harm can a fax do? Hmmmm

at very least it unsettles the player

Wenger said he won't. Whether or not Fabregas forces his hand is another matter though.

But as it stands he's got four years left on his contract, so we're in no rush. Personally I think we should keep him for another two seasons, in which time Ramsey and Wilshere will have hopefully developed their game enough to fully assume the mantle. And we'd still get top-dollar for him too.

Also by then I think they'll really be looking at buying a replacement for Xavi, as opposed to now where I think they just want him for the sake of it - so I suspect they wouldn't be fecking around with these pathetic 20-30 million pound bids.

Pissing in the wind I think it's called. Watch you don't get your own back.

Can you really see United bidding that amount for any player?

Let's be realistic here

I think if the Rooney transfer happened these days, we'd be talking that amount.

I can.

I dunno if you've noticed, but theres a big hole in the middle of the pitch when United play these days

That can be filled by someone who would be more of a realistic signing. Fabregas would be an excellent signing for United but let's face it, it's not going to happen.

Didn't say it was going to happen. Just said they should do it. See if they get a good response. No harm in trying. Try once in June. They say no. Try again in August when new things have perhaps happen in which they might need the money, the player is unhappy or they'd simply would consider it.

fabregas just turned 24.

He's easily worth faxing in a 50 million quid bid in for. Sign him on a 5 year deal with the view to sell him on after 3 years to barca.

He'd have just turned 27 before joining barca.

I thought we were all about 'sell on value' now a days.

Wouldn't hurt to bid for him, don't think we'd get him though. Nasri is a much more realistic target if we want an Arsenal player.

He was always going to Barca one day, hopefully not this summer.
