Had a 2 hour rant in the Local the other night about our squad. Mick has some major decisions to make in the coming months.

Will he opt for 2-3 Goalie's, if Two who'd he leave out? I say Kelly

Who will Start as the Back Pair? I say O'Brien, Staunton

Can he afford to keep Harte on the pitch just for his attacking capabilities? I say Yes

We can pick between Carr, O'Doherty, O'Brien, Cunningham, Breen, Staunton, Harte, Finnan, Dunne, Kelly, Babb (whose playing his best football at present) for the back row. Surely not room for them all? I cann't call this. Maybe forget about Babb to start with.

Richard Saddlier- Will he make the squad? I say start him with Robbie.

Carsley - Do we need him if we already for Kinsella, Holland in squad, or bring McPhail who can create play? I say bring him over McPhail.

Any Thoughts Lads.

We need a squad of 22 players who will fight for their country, play as a team and reward their loyal followers with the same experiences as witnessed in the last 2 world Cup outtings..

England will need 22 soccer idols, who will parade in their fancy poofy kit, play as if they have never seen a football before, and lose so their thug Fans can run riot over Japan.

How big a squad do you need?

You'll only be playing three games.

We're talking about the Ireland squad here not England.

Ireland could of won the world cup in '90 without actually winning a game in 90mins.I reckon we'll get through the next phase this summer ! ;)

Why doesn't FIFA not ban the English. It would make for a better tournament, and the opposing fans know they can go around, sing a few songs without having a beer bootle flung at them.

Nobody would miss the English, and sure they'll be heading home early anyway.

 Disagree mate,i think it wouldn't be the same if Engerrrland wouldn't be there.I think the only way Ireland and England can meet is the final or something like that.Could you imagine.

well maybe you didn't forget o'shea but i'd like to bring him IF he strings together impressive performances for united. carr's one of the best, if not the best, right back in the premiership. harte is in for the frees and spot kicks, surely. guess i'd bring:

given, kiely

o'shea
carr
o'brien
breen
staunton
harte
finnan
dunne

midfield, from
g. kelly (doing well at right mid for leeds lately)
macateer
keano
holland
kinsella
kilbane
reid
duff (either here or forward)

quinny
robbie
sadlier (scoring for fun, hope he's the real thing)
morrison

no spots for connolly, mcphail, cunny, carsely, kennedy. play to our strengths which, strangely, was defending in the qualifying campaign.

Don't know about staunton(maybe for exp reasons)he's a bit old and slow...ie- Utd v's Villa !
Why not Connolly he's nippy.Maybe Kavanagh (Cardiff City)in the squad again,he scored twice i think in the US.

Of course O'Brien, Another selection headache.

GOOD Selection Destro. Seeing as your over in America I'll fill you in on another player who is englands top scorer in all divisions and is Irish. He has written to Mick asking to be played in the run-up games. His name escapes me but its a player with Boston United in the conferance.

Also Glen Crowe of Boh's is a must before Connolly. (Not that Connolly is bad, just we have Duff and Keane who can play his game)

mick wasn't that dominic foley (watford) who scored in the u.s. cup? dunno much about him and there's a couple of others, barret out on loan from arsenal, and that kid baz mentioned in the conference. would do well to keep an eye on him.

 Maybe so,but i thought he scored at some stage over there !

I really couldn't give a crap about Ireland. One thing you do need though is 3 keepers. I don't think any coach would go to the World Cup with only 2.

The midfield will be the most difficult area. Kilbane has to go, he was absolute crap against Iran. Im thinkin Mcateer, holland , ROY with duff out on the left, staying more forward than everyone else.

I see Kilbane is looking to get away from Sunderland, so he can play first team football and cement his position in the first 11.

Bit rich ain't it.

Anyone missed Connelly last night with Wimbledon missed nothing. Quiet game, looked out of depth. Nothing new there.

yeah i agree kilbane's about as useful as a plugged bog but there's not much else out on the left besides duff. i mean there's delap! kilbane's one of them strange animals who can score some pretty goals but have an absolute rotten game at the same time.

Duff set up Blackburns 2 goals last night and and the striker had to do was tap it in the net.

If Duff was to get more freedom on the wing with McAteer off the right and Keane with Quinn in centre playing simple balls we'll not ownly win but look a quite handy team.

I see in A German Football 'DAS BOT' mag they picked the 3 young stars of the tournament and Duff was one of them.
