I was in Pearse Stadium, Galway at the above match last Sat. night. I must say, I actually enjoyed it, quite a lot of others did not. Ok, it was timid compared to previous meeting's, but I was impressed with the speed & skill of both teams adapting to this game. There were some hard hits, but nothing dirty. There was a full house of nearly 34,000 ( Touts were even looking to buy tickets outside, prior). The atmosphere was excellent & of course it was brilliant in the last 5 mins, when Ireland overhauled the Aussie lead, to win 48 - 40....... There was even some impromptu entertainment, a dog arrived
on the pitch to inspect the player's pre-match gaurd of honour...... A few people disguised as clowns invaded the pitch.... best of all, there were 2 streakers, one was allowed to run around unchallenged, so he got p**sed off, and as he was trying to put back on his shorts, he tripped & fell over, to howls of laughter from 34,000 people.....how embarassing !

Anyway, great win for Ireland..... Let's hope we finish it off next Sun. in Dublin, in front of over 82,000 fans !

Think ill wander on in on sunday, hopefully will be a good match! although i can see the aussies being a lot more dirty this week. They'll do anything to win against a load of "amateurs".

Tadgh kennelly was class last week, think we should utilise donaghy more in his fullforward role too.

from what I've read the Croker is sold out for Sundays big game.
you're right about the Aussies though, I think they'll step up their efforts and maim a few Irish lads to get the win.

I can't believe I paid to go see that.Ireland were feking hopeless, especially in the last two quarters.
The Aussies are thugs too btw

Aussies won well, no doubt........ normally, I would congratulate the opposition on a win, but not on this occasion ! They purposely put on 3 or 4 hatchet men in order to disrupt & "take-out" key Irish players. They did this in the knowledge, that their culprits would be "sin-bined" for 15mins, but crucially allowed to bring on instant replacements !... farcical to say the least !
The Irish were no angels either, but what were they suppose to do ? they had to protect themselves, as certainly those eternally biased Aussie officials did not give any protection. Amazingly, most of these acts came in the territory controlled by the Aussie official.
Did anyone notice when Ire had a kick-out or free-kick, an Aussie somewhere on the field, would start a skirmish, so as to disrupt the Irish movement.

I have alway's been a keen fan of this game, but I am having 2nd toughts on it now. Our players are amateurs, & these lads have jobs to go to the following day. Why should they play against thugs who seem intent on crippling them !... Graham Geraghty is lucky man today, he could easily have been paralized/ broken neck!

The Aussie public will probably take the "Irish are softies" approach. Well, all I can say is anybody can be a thug, thankfully our sports people, and indeed most Northern Hemisphere sports people have the intellegence to choose otherwise !

not at all surprising is it - the Aussies have been doing that for a long time.

bunch of feckin convicts.

I saw a bit of the game on Setanta last nite... what a fecking mental match, I didn't care for the Ozzies before... like them less now.

Really hate the feckin' Aussies lately.

Arrogant tossers. The first quarter of the match was a disgrace but the lads should have been wide after last year and got stuck in first. End one of the Aussie pricks careers.

I hope Leamy decapitates one of them on Sunday.
