I'm looking to buy the 30gb video ones of either of these.I've used an ipod(30 gb) for the past two years and it didn't give me too many problems but there was some sort of hard disk problem two months back and then I proceeded to lose the replacement.Buying another one but my friend brought the Zen player to my notice and I'm wondering if anyone on here has some experience with it...how is it better than the ipod?Is it complicated to work?Have there been instances of problems with the working?

Thanks.

I have a Zen mate, fantastic, shat all over Ipods when I got it.

Used to take it with me everywhere, uni, out, work, wherever. Durable as feck too in the dropping sense.

But at work I vacuum alot, and the static from the carpet/vacuum kept shorting it, and now its just fecked. Pissed me right off.

EDIT: I'm going to send it off to Sydney eventually, to get fixed. If they can't I'm definately going to buy a Zen. Ipods break to easily.

Feature wise I agree with cesc's mullet but it's uglier. Whichever you buy you'll be happy. It depends on what you want. Both are good. The ipod has better interface from what I've seen but I've got full experiance only from my ipod video (60GB). The reliability thing is nothing to worry about but of course you should know how to take care of a device with a hard disk.

I use a zen.

If that hasn't convinced you, nothing will.

right...just nicely contradicted yourself there with regards to its durability :boring:

its a device with a harddisk, take a bit of care and it should be fine, mine's perfectly fine throughout the past 2-3 years and i've dropped it multiple times even. guess sometimes it up to your luck as well.

The ipod just got an update yesterday.

There’s now the ipod classic, this now only comes in 80GB and 160GB, however if you don’t need that much storage I am sure you can pick up a 30GB from the refurb store.
Also there's the ipod touch, it has all the features of the iphone other then the actually phone feature. These come in 8GB and 16gb, I would be tempted by this but want at least 20gb.

Personally if you are after a PVP look at the Archos range, IMO they do the best players and play almost every file you throw at it unlike the ipod which only plays acc, mp3 and mp4.

I have the Gmini Acros 400 which is fairly old now but its still great, its can do so many things a ipod cant, you can even mod it to play game boy games.
Toshiba's gigabeat S player is also supposed to be pretty good too.

Creative Zen is the shiznit, which is a good thing I'm told

I've got the Zen :M Video 30gb. You can also make recordings and imo it is better than the ipod. Pocket size too

Um, no.

I would now like to direct you to the 'in the dropping sense,' part of my sentence.

But hey, shit try though.
