We talk so much of Globalization yet it seems FIFA are heading backwards.

I live in Bangkok, Thailand and we have few international players playing in England. These players have been disallowed to return home to play in the Asian Games that are being held this week.

I know that S.Korea, Japan, and China are facing the same problem.

How is it that South American teams get their players back to play in 18 qualifying games for the World Cup and the Asian teams cannot get their players back for just 2 weeks of their most important football tournament that only comes every 4 years?

It clearly decreased the people's attention of this year's games. Japan had probably the most uninteresting team in many years in the year's competition.

I think FIFA should seriously consider matching International Calendar to help facilitate this type of problem.

Its a balls up by FIFA, and it shows the amount of influence that South American players have compared to their Asian conterparts.
