It seems that, for the moment, the miraculous run of luck that Man Utd have had with injuries has run out.

Liverpool and Arsenal have had to cope with major absences from integral players, whereas MU have not really suffered to the same extent.

opinions?

i always wonder when teams start getting a load of injuries at the one time whether it really is just bad luck or down to a change of training methods and/or bad preparation?

A key player eg. Steven G and Owen always seems to be out injured for us. For the Arse, last year a Red hot Pires.

Your crucial player, IMHO, Keane has been relatively free of long injuries since 1997.

IMO Keane is 50% of your team. and now you lot wil probably field a make shift defence vs WBA.

So, because Keano has hardly been injured since 1998, we have had a miraculous injury free run...

What do these three have in common? Brown, Johnsen and Blomquist

Snoeker, i think you are quite right, we haven't had any long term injury problems, except for Roy Keane since 1997. Oh, except for Wes Brown, last season, and then of course there was Ronny Johnson for the last two years. Oh yes, and Jaap Stam a couple of years ago, and David May, virtually since we bought the bugger. Oh, and FB misses a few games. But apart from that we've been totally injury free!

Yep. And Seba still managed to play despite an injury, and we got Ruud a year later than expected because of an injury. Beckham wasn't injured along with Keane at a critical stage last season, Gary wasn't out for a few months in the start of 1999/00, Cole wasn't out for a few months in 2000/01.

Nope, no problems at all...

None of these players (Keane has been mentioned) are as crucial as the players other teams lost.

Mind you, if RVN gets crocked you lot would be in a bit of strife.

What do you call crucial. Would you define having 3 CBs out at the same time as crucial. I also forgot to mention Ryan Giggs, is he crucial. And of course , Jaap Stam can't have been described as crucial at the time of his injury.

Beckham and Stam have never been crucial for us - you're right..

So our previously rock at the back Stam, our goalkeeper and David Beckham aren't very important? If Keane's our rock, than it's Hyypia and Henchoz for Liverpool, I wonder how they'd look if they kept chopping and changing there.

Miraculous run!!

I think losing Beckam, Gaz Neville, Keane and (from time to time) Veron at the end of last season wasn't a very miraculous run.

And people are talking about loosing Keane for a year in 97. We my memory of that year is that towards the end of the season we were crippled with injuries throughout the squad. Can anybody name the team that played Monaco in the quarters that year. I remember Casper playing right full or is my memory failing me.

What a load of bollocks..

We had half our team out for the crucial stages of the CL and you're on about a miraculous run of luck re injuries..

I'm happy that I've provided you lot with a brief respite from the matter at hand.

See, there have been worse times ;)

We did have a very makeshift team that night. Who was it a right-full again? It was one of the young fellas who has since moved on. Can't think of his name. Anyway it was one of his first starts and it was the quarter final of the European Cup. Talk about in at the deep end :( . I think Pallister was missing as well and maybe Denis and Bex too. We really struggled. McClair was in midfield trying to be Roy Keane. Choccy used give it a go really didn't he?

Curtis probably - plays for Blackburn now

Actually one of the saddest things about going out to Monaco that year (98) was the fact that I thought we were by far the best team in the competition. We were playing blistering stuff, remember the night we destroyed Juve and Zidane scored the last minute free kick? We would have won the European Cup that year if it hadn't been for injuries. Real went on to win it in a poor final against Juve. We would have put up a much better fight. What might have been....... <img src="graemlins/yawn.gif" border="0" alt="[Yawn]" />

Man Utd: Van Der Gouw, G. Neville (Berg 32), Irwin, Johnsen, Beckham, Butt, Cole, Sheringham, P. Neville, Scholes (Clegg 46), Solskjaer.

That was the team then... No Schmeichel, Giggs, Pallister or Keane ofcource, with Scholes and Neville also carrying knocks before the matches and not being able to survive more than a half.

Cheers. Ole on the left wing and Clegg came on at half time. Clegg, Curtis and Casper. Always. I got those names mixed up.
