I got one today from Jasonrh for 'insulting another member' in the Manchester United Forum.

here's where it happened: (starting from post #87)

https://www.redcafe.net/showthread.php?t=166474&page=3

Basically, what happened was that rubberman came out of nowhere and accused my of "being happy that Rooney got injured" and then lied to justify that outrageous accusation. His lie was that "I didn't want us to get another forward". When I told him he was lying, he went on a denial rampage which ended in ME receiving an infraction from Jason, whom I didn't know had become a mod.

The reasoning was that I was the one insulting him, despite the fact that rubberman came out of nowhere with that outrageous accusation and the consequent lies. So I get an infraction but he doesn't and Jason tells me that the reason why rubberman didn't get an infraction is because he backed down after he asked him to but I didn't, that is false however, as the rubberman continued to throw insults and lie for FOUR posts AFTER jason had warned him.

So do I have a case or is the infraction justified??

Does calling rubberman a "lying muppet" justify an infraction Weaste? Especially when the rubberman is the one coming with the accusation from nowhere and is in fact lying??

Rubberman was being an idiot and has been warned to tone it down. Your reaction was rather OTT and especially since everyone knows what Rubberman is like.

As we have repeatedly stated over the last few weeks, we are going to try to keep flame wars out of the football forums and we are serious. You only got a single point infraction which is meaningless really since I don't see you as a poster who will rack these things up at a rate that matters, especially since Jason only made it active for 10 days at which time it expires. We normally make infraction points last 6 months.

You may not think it is fair but it would be a great help if everyone could make an effort to make the football forums a better place and if you cop a minor infraction during this bedding in period please see it as just part of the improvement process and not some massive stain on your e-character.

come on mate, i don't think there's an appeal court for infractions

and, if you admit you insulted the rubberman, what do you want? the ruberman to be punished too? give it a rest mate, what we are trying to do is to make a better place of the footie forum

well, I understand the purpose to keep the football forums as much about football as possible, and from my understanding that is why Jason, Marcos and the rest have been appointed mods. But what baffles me, Wib, is him giving ONLY me the temporary infraction yet NOTHING to the real culprit who instigated the whole thing. Jason says rubberman backed down after he asked him to, which is false as you can see in that thread, so how does he explain only giving me the infraction point and calling it FAIR??

If my insult deserves an infraction, there should be 100 infractions today alone, because of the constant number of times other people have called each other what I called Rubberman, the difference is that I actually had a good reason for calling Rubberman a "lying muppet" when he had none.

Do you really think it's fair to give him nothing, despite him being the one instigating the whole thing with an outrageous accusation and then lying throughout, but giving me the infraction??

So him accusing me of being happy for Rooney's injury is completely OK?

i'm not saying you are not right about how many other posters should have been punished too, but even if not every culprit gets a punishment, that doesnt make a punishment unfair

So in my and rubberman's case, it's completely fair that he got away with nothing despite being the one accusing me of being happy that Rooney got injured and then lying in the process, yet me getting infracted? Wouldn't that be hypocracy and unfair??

I have some sympathy Reddevil. Perhaps when improving the quality of the footy forums, things like lying / deliberate and clear distortion of what another poster has said should be equally clamped down on?

If you want my view Red, I'm glad you got the infraction, because it means there is a clear and proper effort being made; a benchmark as to acceptible conduct has been met. It's meaningless anyway as long as you stay out of trouble in future. Maybe the Rubberman should have got one too, not my place to say. If this crack down had occured 6 months ago, me and the Rubberman would no longer be here! :smirk:

come on mate, that's like the players that ask for yellow and red cards to the opponents

did you insult RICTR? yes you did, did you deserve to be punished? yes

what happens to RICTR is his problem

well, thanks for the support Brad, but if you AND rubberman got punished for something you BOTH were equally at fault, then that's fair, but that isn't what happened with me and rubberman.

he was not only the person starting the whole thing with that outrageous accusation and then lying constantly, but he GOT AWAY with it. Yet ONLY I got infracted for defending those accusations. So, both the fault is mostly his fault and he should be the one getting infracted, not me, if there is to be ONLY one person getting the punishment, seems fair doesn't it?

You did the right thing reddevilcanada. Reasoning with the rubberman is futile. When you think you've heard it all, and blown away all his claims with hard evidence, he throws more shite at you.
Unlucky.

Marcos I've managed to get almost the entire forum to call him Rubberman, please don't break the tradition!

Who got away with what then?

Seriously. It was meaningless in the grand scheme of things. It was meant to send a message about being a jerk in the MUFC forum.

No marcos, I wouldn't have been punished if it weren't for him, so don't treat the two of us as separate cases. You, as a lawyer, should know this!

The simple solution to this is not to respond to the Rubbermans jibes. Taken me a while but I tend to avoid them more often than not. I'm not anti him, I like his passion. If only he could express it constructively rather than in unadulterated bullshit speak, he'd be a top quality poster!

I hope you all realise that we now no longer have a true "Manc" active admin or mod?

Hectic lives there, but for some reason I don't think he is one. This is just a hunch mind.

I now live in a sub-basement at OT courtesy of Unca Malc, my dearest and nearest bearded relative.

Sending a message is one thing, doing it properly and fairly is another.

because you told me in the PM that he "backed down" after you asked him to "unlike me", which was completely false.

I did say that at first. How do you know you didn't appeal, Steven-Gerrard-like, and manage to succeed in getting your 'opponent' booked?

It is a 10 day 1 point infraction. It will be impossible for you to get enough of those to even get a temp ban.

Because this is the first day of newer stricter rules, I didn't think it would be fair to stick you with a longer 'penalty'. I was being lenient and nice to you, and explained the situation in great detail.

We all want the forums to be a better place. I hope you will help everyone to do that.

are u a 12 yeard old kid? u dont have to insult nobody for those comic comments... How many times people on here say crap, we can lose the count... Just chill and use another words next time.

So you were more than fair, eh? What would you have done in normal circumstances? Given me a ban for that??

mate, I don't have a problem with people saying crap, but when you're the ONLY one singled out, then it does become a problem. You should have recieved an infraction as well actually for calling me a dirty bastard, if rules are to apply to everybody ;)

They can't ban you unless they all attacked you at the same time.

No,I think they can ban you by constantly giving you infractions. I'm not worried about Marcos, Hectic and mehro as they are reasonable, much more so than Jason at least.

i didnt say that... i said bstd, u could have opted to give that the meaning u wanted :D

RDC, read the above post again. A single infraction is no big deal.

I've explained this before.

Unless you're going to go on several more tears of the kind you did against The Chief in the next ten days, the point will vanish into the ether and serve as a helping hand in hopefully letting you see where we want the line to be drawn in personal attacks from now on in those forums.
