Yes I can hear you Clem Fandango!
India have vetoed the use of the Decision Review System (DRS) for this summer's Test series in England.

Both sides have to agree the use of DRS and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has objected to it.

An England and Wales Cricket Board spokesman confirmed the BCCI's stance.

DRS was used in last winter's Ashes, the 2011 World Cup and is in operation in England's current Test series against Sri Lanka.

But India, who won the World Cup earlier this year, have consistently been against the use of the current technology which is used to help umpires in their decision-making.

Although DRS is optional, the International Cricket Council is to discuss its wider use in international cricket.

India are ranked the number one Test team and begin their four-match series against England at Lord's on 21 July.

That match is scheduled to be the 2,000th Test in the history of the sport and the 100th between England and India.

Boooooooooooooooo!

Why should the game not have key mistakes...it is after played by humans, and to err is human.

What a load of crock. I've said in the past when they've refused to go along, and I'll say it again...fecking pathetic from the BCCI and Indian senior players. ICC once again prove themselves to be useless....take a executive decision that all test matches must have DRS, end of discussion.

I agree that 'key mistakes' are part of human error, but I could give you two good reasons why the DRS is good for cricket:

(i) Reduces the likelihood of spot-fixing and umpires being bribed

(ii) makes the game more exciting for the spectator, which is a good thing

Absolute rubbish from the BCCI. The Review System works very well and reduces mistakes; technology should be embraced. The ICC should compel every international game to have the DRS and every game to have the same standard (ie. hotspot should be available)

Didn't the ICC change the 2.5m rule after the BCCI complained about it because it worked against them in the World Cup? Why can't they accept it and move on?

I can't see a problem with the review system. A great addition to Cricket. If anything it should become compulsory in all forms of cricket except T20's, even increase DRS from the present two allowed to possibly three.

It's very irritating that BCCI has refused to use referral system so far. It worked well in the WC.

Do we know who is umpiring the series? If there is no DRS, then Aleem Dar is a must, as he is the best around.

It is a real shame the BCCI do not support this, as I think the DRS really does make things more exciting and interesting.

I think it ruins the game since you have to wait two minutes to find out what 'happened'. It's completely shit for the live spectator.

If there is a sport where it doesn't slow it down or disrupt play it is test cricket, plus the sense of anticipation of a contentious decision being made adds flavour to what can be a monotonous game at times.

Plus cricket is probably the hardest major sport to get decisions right in.

Agree with this but I think the BCCI's stand is annoying. Shouldn't be one rule for us because we have so much money.
