Which Dutch player you'd like to see at the club ?

Considering what Van persie said on potential Dutch signings "I'll admit that I know a little bit more than you sometimes, but I can't say anything!" i thought we'd have a thread dedicated for dutch speculations, with a poll!

So who do you want and expect to see ? Personally i wouldn't mind any of them on the cheap, but no one to break the bank for, most would be back up options anyway.

I didn't add robben because that's not gonna happen.
 
I'm not sold on any of them to be honest. LVG could probably get us to play to a standard greater than the sum of its parts, but i'd rather see him do that with better players, or some of our youth prospects. Blind could probably do a squad role for us, fairly cheap lb and cm cover. Other than that, i'd like to think we're aiming higher for the first team.
 
In all honesty, I'd take Blind as a squad player (can play left back and midfield) but none of the others really stand out. Certainly not if that was to complete our business. We've got so many 'squad' players, what we need right now is genuine first team quality, and Robben apart, I don't think there is anyone in the Dutch squad that is good enough for that.
 
It was a bit of a tap in though. Rvp denied it stonecold at first but when the presentator laughingly asked him ''but you would know more about it than me wouldn't you?'', so the equivalent of a Beckham quality cross for RvP to tap in, he smiled and went with the flow to finish off the 'joke'.

Would not read anything into it.

De Vrij not stand out?

We're short in numbers in defense though, blind would be a good back up for shaw and can also play in midfield, and i'd have De Vrij over Vermaelen.

Yeah he has impressed me, very calm and composed in possession and defensively strong. But we already have 3 good defenders in Evans, Jones and Smalling. If we don't go with 2 from those 3 first choice then I think we should bring in a 'stand out' defender, as I don't think De Vrj is any better then those 3 in all honesty.
 
I think just about all of them could be useful.

I think vlaar is mediocre player, who's had a great wc. So meh to him.
De vrij looked extremely tidy and i'd be happy with him with the other options we have.
Hummels would be preferable obviously but not going to happen.

Sneijder could do with a move but not to us where he'd be lucky to make the bench. Hes looked better as the tournament has worn on though.

De jong would be good but more as a stopgap really
Blind would be a great utility player, could cover full backs and dm. Dont think he'd be happy playing as a jack of all trades squad player though.

Depay is another meh despite a good wc. Reminds me a bit of zaha from the tiny amount ive seen from him. Theres other players i'd like to see given an opportunity ahead of him.
Maybe in january.

Clasie looked pretty good in their last 2 games, kind of surprised he wasn't used earlier. Any particular reason anyone knows of?

Agreed. What i was trying to say to @The Neviller just now, just worded better!
 
De Vrij is thrice the defender Vermaelen is, but I'm still hoping for a big name in there. Blind is the perfect cover for left back and midfield.
 
Depay and De Vrij are good prospects, on his world cup performances I'd probably rank De Vrij ahead of any of our current centrebacks, and Vermaelen. Blind would be adequate cover for LB/CDM/CB. De Jong obviously has his qualities and would let Herrera (and maybe Vidal) run riot further forward.
 
Vlaar is not good enough. He played a great tournament, but he played the tournament of his life and was helped by the system. In a 4 man defense with more space he will go back to the average defender he was quite fast IMO.
De Vrij has really surprised me, just like Vlaar, he did really well. Difference with Vlaar is that he is still really young and getting better. Before the tournament I'd say definitely not good enough (yet). Right now I think Man Utd could take the gamble. He'd be a decent squad player at least. As he's still young he can still make big improvements. He's played a huge tournament though. Like Vlaar, also helped by the change of system to a 5 man defense, but his defending was very good at times.
Blind is a decent squad player at best.
Depay is very talented and therefor an interesting target. He needs games now though. He should stay at PSV for at least another season or two. But he's definitely got the potential.
De Jong would be a good DM for Manchester United for sure.
Sneijder is past his best and Manchester United don't need him. With Mata, Rooney and Kagawa there's no need for Sneijder. Besides, him and RvP don't really click.
Clasie did better than I thought he would do, but would still say; not good enough.

Van Gaal won't just take a lot of Dutch players though. It worked against him in his Barca days in the end. He won't make that mistake again. He might take one or two. If he does De Vrij and Depay seem the most likely ones.
 
There's only two players in this Dutch squad I'd really love to see here and we already own one of them, Bayern own the other. I voted for Vlaar as I think a no nonsense bruiser like him with plenty of experience would compliment our 3 CB's. The rest on this list are average squad players or in the case of Memphis a young prospect, we already have plenty of both.

It's all very well saying we need an experienced head i suppose, but who is there that's available? If LvG reckons he's our guy, i'm not about to argue. Would prefer him over Thomas 'biscuit legs' Vermaelen.

Hummels aside. It is hard to find world class CBs. City are paying £32m for Mangela and I don't rate him. Luiz for £50m says it all.

If only Zidane the cnut didn't talk to Varane. We could have had him.

I would have loved to sign Garay though.
 
Given that Evra is going, Blind would do alright for backup. Can play a few other roles too.

De Vrij looked decent, and as I'd like us to give one out of Smalling and Jones the chance to form a partnership with Evans I'd be happy enough to see him here as a squad option.

Depay looks like a potential talent, and if it's one or the other between Vidal and Di Maria/top class winger I'd take Vidal and a young, cheaper wide option with the potential to develop.

Don't know. Don't get me wrong, I'd love Hummels if available, but in the absence of that type of player being available I'm happy to see Evans and one of Smalling or Jones paired and someone like de Vrij as cover/challenging the others for a place. He's surprised me this World Cup, but then that might be more down to how van Gaal set the team up, which is exciting thinking about what he could do with the defenders we have.
 
Post match it looked like De Vrij. Janmaat has been rumoured. De Jong would be very interesting, if there are really good odds at the bookies you might consider to gamble on this. All in all I really don't know for sure if and who will join us, at the moment it looks like De Vrij probably, but Van Gaal really seemed to be in love with De Jong in some press conferences.
 
The Dutch have enjoyed a great World Cup, and I certainly wouldn't mind a few from their side as squad options. But there wasn't much top quality on show, in fact their shining star was van Gaal.

I think Blind would be a fantastic squad player. He is versatile and is seems a very intelligent player.
 
I'd be happy with any of de Vrij, Blind, Depay, or De Jong honestly. I picked Blind because we'll need cover for left back assuming Evra leaves and he can also play centrally. He's not the quickest but he's very good technically and seems like a very intelligent player from what I've seen. De Vrij has looked very good throughout the World Cup as well, but I do hope we'll aim a bit higher for center back.

Carrick is getting a bit old now and is coming off a bad season so De Jong would be a good addition to our midfield, but again, I'd rather we got Vidal or someone of similar quality. Depay seems like he could be worth a punt as well but we have quite a few young wingers in our squad already who I'd like to see be given a chance before we sign someone like Depay.
 
I see nobody has mentioned Strootman. I hope it is him, would be able to get him a lot cheaper as he is injured and the risk of him not returning as well will be removed from the price. Roma don't really have the financial power to reject a great bid right now either. I don't think they can risk it and hope he returns as good as before to get 5-10 millions more as they need great cover for him too while he is recovering.
 
from the list above i voted for de vrij. i think he is the most realistic CB that we could sign right now.

agree that blind could be a useful signing if evra leaves, his versatility would be a good thing for the squad. so he's a close second.
 
I chose Blind and Depay. Blind would be an excellent cover for Shaw at left back and he cover in midfield also. Depay seems like an excellent young player and could really improve under the guidance of Van Gaal. If the choice of CB is between De Vrij or Vermaelen, i would choose De Vrij as well.
 
None. They're all average players and we'll just repeat the mistake of stockpiling average players who contribute little. It's the quantity over quality attitude that got us a host of players who are best described as deadwood.

If I had to pick one with a gun to my head, I'd pick Blind. He fills a few needs and would be cheaper than the other option of Vermaelen.
 
I think Depay could mature under Van Gaal into a good winger. Blind for the right price would be good.
 
The only Dutch players I'd want is De Vrij and Strootman when fit.
 
Why must we sign a Dutch?LVG only signed one (Robben) when he was at Bayern and that's not really his signing (was forced to strengthen the team by the board).
