Inamoto

How big are Utd in Japan?
Inamoto wouldnt be that much of a footballing assett to us but would be a hell of a commercial one going on his performances in the WC so far.
Available on a free from Arsenal.
Also could stick 1 up the gooners - they wasted 4 million squids!

no disrespect to the lad... he's done well this world cup, but...
if he can't get into the arsenal squad, what on earth would possess him to get into ours?
even if the commercial assets would totally outweigh the footballing ones, i'd rather take scholes, veron, butt, etc in my team than an unproven arsenal reject

so your saying we should buy Inamoto so we sell shirts in japan?

You may as well sign those Sumo guys from the Pepsi advert.
The goalie looks half decent.

well why not - he aint a bad player and we wouldnt be buying him - he's available on a free
hes still young too whereas fortune is now 25 and should be past merely showing potential.

Meaning we're not a side that would exploit people as such. That's for the Arse.

Inamoto has spent a year in England and by now should be adapting to conditions...might be worth a gamble if he can reproduce performances like in the World Cup.

Why bring Inamoto to be wasted on our becnh where Nicky Butt who is better than him usually sits there? . Let im go to our "feeder club" PSV and in four years time he can replace Keane as Butt's bakc up eh. :D

Man Utd aren't into exploiting things for commercial benefit?
Silly boy.

Inamoto can play alright. putting up with the Belgian defense isn't all that easy. the 2nd goal (disallowed) showed his commitment. personally i think judging him by 20 minutes in the EPL last season is be pretty stupid. look at him in the WC and see for yourself.

it's all about state of mind. just wait and see the few Asians in the EPL next season.

Man Utd aren't into exploiting things for commercial benefit?

it's "people", brightness. PEOPLE.

not things.

So, Man Utd never exploit "people" for commercial benefit then? (Cantona seems to think different)
How do you feel Arsenal have exploited Inamoto? Surely his displays have shown he is a half decent player, and if all they wanted was shirt sales, surely they wouldn't have released him just as he claims the spotlight in Japan.

they bought the guy to ignite sales in Japan, then sat him for the season. it doesn't take much to see this. they labeled him "T-shirt" for a reason.

why did they release him? f*ck if i know. they could easily sell him for 4m right now.

Arsenal haven't made an official announcement that Inamoto has been released and the Premier folks claim that the quote attributed to their office is bogus. Atalanta of Serie A claimed to have made arraingments with the Japanese league to acquire Inamoto, but the J-League doesn't have authority over the contract. (get the impression Ivan Ruggeri is full of it?) So far there is a lot of sound and fury, but very little substance to the reports.

hey the Batman was awesome last night. maybe we can buy him, give him a cape with a big "M" on it and bench him for the season...think the Japs will buy it?

He has had two good games and now we should buy him? I agree that he has been impressive, Wenger wouldn't have bought him if he wasn't promising.

But our midfield is jam packed in the middle. If anything we should sell and get good back up for Giggs or Beckham.

Besides Japan isnt that hot on football, they are crazy whilst the WC is on, but people expect the 'fad' to die down once the WC is over. hirts wont be seeling by the bucketload just cos we have Inamoto. Or am I wrong? Maybe thats why teams pay millions for that waste of space Nakata.

If football isn't hot in japan why do these footballers enjoy uber-filmstar status in their own country? Not only Nakata (whose website after opening has broken the record of hits in Japan in one day or something) and Shinji Ono (world cup or not, every little bit of news is almost front paper stuff) mind you, enough "top" footballers in the J-league are heralded like heros. As an Asian with strong Japanese ties I know for a fact that while baseball is still no.1 in Japan, football will remain quite popular even after the WC and it's popularity is still rising... dunno where you've heard otherwise.

Back on topic though... We should not buy inamoto.

Arsenal haven't denied it, have they? While Wenger also claimed that we'll see after the World Cup. Doesn't sound like they intend to keep him, and it would be somewhat difficult now anyway.

Must one always deny the bogus? That does little more than legitimize the rumor mill. After the world cup Arsenal will probably move him, since Imamoto is a midfielder and isn't likely to replace Vieira in the near future. I just don't think he will be a freebie for anyone out there.

So, you're saying Arsenal bought him only to sell T-shirts, and then strangely decided to release him just as his marketing potential in Japan reaches his peak?
There's a slight contradiction in there, but I don't expect you to spot it.

that's why i said f*ck if i know...that's just based on reports and so far the Arse ain't denying it. i wouldn't count it out however, it's them Arse afterall.

Besides Japan isnt that hot on football

football is huge in Japan. not as much as baseball, but is rising quickly. and that Nakata "waste of space" was instrumental in Roma's Scudetto.
