I'm so happy, oh so happy!!

we made a mediocre liverpool side look like world beaters, football was cancelled this weekend.

I'm glad for you Murph, things on the up at anfield, this time last year you were basing future happiness on beating Derby ... at least you've beated a proper team this time ...

from our perspective you're this seasons Bolton ...

saying all that I didn't see it and 5live is not to be trusted ...

all I do know is that a good mate of mine from your particular faith busted his guts to get over from Dublin to the game and when we went one up I genuinely felt for him... I blame that weakness on the result ... next time I will be more resolute ... so enjoy ...

Ineresting that a dozen scousers has showed up recently, some of them have been MIA a long time:angel:

We`ve seen it all before haven`t we?

Scousers gleeing and celebrating in Aug/Sept, only for their sorrow to be so much deeper come spring. As far as I`m concerned it makes winning that much more fun.

And you won fair and square on Saturday, we didn`t show up at all. Reminded me of our City match at OT last year. The table was set but we simply weren`t there.

Probably not worth the effort.

Your happiness will be as transient as Liverpool's title hopes, just like last season.

Shut up Pogue , just for once you didn't get the rub of the green like you have in recent times. We won fair and square and were much the better team on the day, didn't even need Torres either. It doesn't make us champions but if we are going to win the league we have to beat you to do it.

And we did, and I loved it...

To be fair, we've hardly had the "rub of the green" against you in any games at Anfield recently.

You just keep conceding really stupid goals. A bit like how we did on Saturday.

Ahhh let him have his day - they played alot better than us & thoroughly deserved to win - we were shocking to put it mildly & i've no complaints whatsover!

Murphs taken a lot of grief on here (given grief back tho) & he still comes back for more so fair play Murph - keep your feet on the ground mate - its only one win, we've got the squad to compete at all levels, so a bad day at the office wont get anyone sacked!

Fair shout, I just think we've deserved more than what we've got though in recent years. It's been as much about poor finishing as giving away stoopid goals, that still applys from Saturday, Kuyt and Keane could have done better.

Can't wait for you and Chelsea next week.

To be fair mate I think you played poorly because we denied you oxygen. I've said this for years, if you sit back and let United play they'll kill you, trying to hit you on the break is suicide. I'll bet you wish Mascherano was one of yours?

I am under no illusions how hard it's going to be to overtake you Chelsea and Arsenal but for every two steps back we appear to be taking three forward, I thought Riera had a superb debut and I'm optimistic, notwithstanding these Yanks could feck us up . I'll leave it at that.

Thanks to young Babel :D

Do you think my signature could now reflect this new found joy in my heart?

Cheers.

Murphman, you are alright for a Liverpool fan, congrats on the win although it pains me to say that. If you were Davo I would tell you to feck OFF!!

That's probably fair. The game where O'Shea scored you basically thrashed us. I can't remember the last time we actually outplayed you at Anfield, though there have been a few times where we've got in front and then looked comfortable for the rest of the game.

We definitely contributed hugely to our own downfall on Saturday though. For a start, VDS basically punched the ball into his own net, then Carrick, one of our two midfielders, got injured, and for some reason we replaced him with me.

You were much the better team in the equivalent game last season too, hence my point about not getting too excited about one game. The difference between the results in the two games wasn't so much the rub of the green as diabolical individual errors by VdS and Giggs.

Liverpool were the better team on Saturday but this wasn't because they were playing like world-beaters, it was because we were absolutely atrocious. Liverpool were hungrier, no doubt but if I was watching that game, as a gooner or a Chelsea fan, I wouldn't have been shaking in my boots about the prospect of playing either team. That result doesn't make Liverpool a genuine threat for the title, any more than Bolton tearing us a new one last season meant they were were going to do anythig other than battling to avoid relegation.

Sorry, Murphs, I've always rated you a class above the usual "sing when we're winning" Liverpool fans on here but this doesn't mean I'm not gonna tell it how I saw it. Liverpool were considerably less mediocre than United and deserved their win. But that's the best I can offer.

but did you actually create a chance for all that 'domination'? results overrated - 9/10 you wouldn't have won that but you got the game where maybe only 1 player played up to standard

It might sound hmm, but kuyts chance was vds flapping. I can't think of anything else. You created zip

In saying that I still blame the international break. Two fecking weeks! It's not not on. A weeks training with a home European game and things will be different i'm sure. Sir Alex was right to be livid on the back of that 'shocker'

I get too easily wound up, this thread just put me back a couple of days on the feel-like-shit-meter.

Quite simply not in my starting XI if we added him to our current squad. We had a bad day at the office, no need for knee jerk reactions. You should know better than to come on gloating this early in the season.

...

Why the fecking hostility then? It was meant as a joke you grumpy old git.

My apologies mate, the eternal problem with conversing over the net, I thought you were having a go.

IT may be paranoia but this IS a manc board two days after. I wouldn't be so arrogant as to gloat.

Publicly.:D

I'm not gloating, every United fan I've spoken with thought Masch was awesome.

Actually no; he is obviously a decent player with certain attributes but if I was to have any player in that sort of role from anyone in the Premier, I would have Essien hands down anyday. But aside from that, I wouldn't have Mascherano in my side over Anderson or Hargreaves who also both provide that same efficiency I assume you refer to.
To be honest, and I will get a bollocking for this no doubt, Scholes has been pissing me off recently; it's not just the sending off he got versus Zenit (although I think this summarises my point), it's his nonchalant performances and it's almost as if it's Scholes is undroppable from the side - since his age has led to a more withdrawn role into a more orthodox midfielder, we've seen Scholes effectively turn from creative goal-creating/scoring genius into just an aggressive twat who contributes little, with average ratings of about 6/10 in many games. Do we really wish for Scholes to become a Robbie Savage, or is it time for him to bow out a bit gracefully and allow Carrick, Anderson, Possebon etc to inherit the mantle and remember Scholes for what he has been for the majority of his illustrious career?

You're right about Mascherano. You're wrong about Scholes.

I agree that when he's bad he's very, very bad (e.g. Saturday and in Monaco) but when he's good, he's the best midfielder in our squad by miles.

This season, he's been bad in as many games as he is good. If that ratio gets any worse then his place will soon be under threat. Otherwise he's still one of the first names on the team-sheet.

I think I went overboard comparing him to Robbie Savage, but as you agree, his performances have been shite, an whilst there have been fleeting glimpses of his classic self, there are simply far too many inconsistencies for him to continue as a starting player if we are to win any silverware this season, otherwise, it's time we started with Anderson or Hargreaves alongside Carrick.

I would say last season there was fleeting glimpses of shite but he was usually his classic self. This season, the ratio is about 50:50 but it's still early days.

This is in contrast to Hargreaves, who we've seen fleeting glimpses of... full stop.

As for Anderson, I would say he's been extremely hit and miss but even at his best he's never been able to control midfield properly and dictate the tempo of the game, the way that Scholes can.

Neither of them are a patch on Scholes, IMO, even the 2008 version. Not yet anyway.

:D I feel like someone understands my view on Scholes.
