Apparently he's had a bust up with Zenit and he's been chucked into the youth squad. He is a very energetic defensive minded midfielder who racks up a lot of passes as well. I remember him being good for Russia at the Euros, although the went out at the group stage and I can't help but think he'd be a very good signing for us.

Edit: talksport saying it's because he doesn't feel the wages that Witsel and Hulk are getting are justified.

Denisov told Russian newspaper Sport-Express: "I could understand it if we signed Messi or Iniesta, who are worth any price. Yes, we bought good players who clearly will help Zenit. But they are so much better than others to earn a salary three times better?"

Kerzhakov seconded this and he's been placed alongside Denisov.

He said ourselves, Barca and Real are the only 3 teams he'd join. He's 28 though. Not impressed by this show of 'leadership' mind.

In fairness, I wouldn't be happy if I was at a club for years, only for two player to come in and get payed three times more. Comes with the territory of playing for a rich club, but it's understandable for him to be pissed off. I don't think 28 is too old. Get a good few years out of him.

He was beast at the Euros, epecially in the first game against Czech Republic. Keeps it simple all the time, but he looks pretty slow. He was running really wierd I thought.

Impressive in the Euros and has a 12m euros release clause. Could be a decent signing for many clubs.

It's the only way to attract players to go to a lesser league or a colder climate (Eto'o, Drogba to China, Silva to wastelands, etc.)

Fair play to him. I'm sure most people agree. It doesn't make a lot of sense that players like Hulk or Witsel are getting paid 3 times the amount of others. The crazy money has gotten too much out of hand that players are having enough.

I'd stick him in the reserves too. He has a contract that he and the club agreed to. The club is holding up their end and paying him as called for. The club spends a lot of money in order to better the club. And he has a problem with that?

China isn't the same as Russia. Russian is similar to the Portuguese league in strength. The top 3 teams in Portugal are just very good but Russia is getting there. And Russia isn't that bad. Juventus players get to experience proper winter. Northern Italy is hardly sunny in the winter.

Sure money attracts but it's not like you need huge wages like that to get them over. Players like Criscito (who's been the best defender in Russia) and Bruno Alves don't have these wages.

It's not just anyone who's criticising this wage policy. It's the 1st and 2nd vice captain. That's surely to mean that others share their views.

This essentially shits over gender equality in the work place.

What? Is Denisov female and I'm not aware of it?

Yep, nail on the head. He's a woman. That's exactly what I said.

Try saying this to women who aren't happy that women in general don't get paid as much as men for doing the same job.

Russian players are the females in this equation. They already live in Russia. You don't have to entice them to stay. Denisov is well aware that he's never going to get that Witsel money anywhere. Witsel would also not get this money anywhere else because no team in Spain, France, England, Germany would pay that money. Why? Because he isn't good enough to deserve it. He's nothing special yet he's getting thrice the amount of his Russian equal.

I understand perfectly why he's frustrated. First of all it's a waste of money and second of all it's simply unfair.

You must disapprove of the FFP no?

Remember hearing just a couple days ago a lot of senior Zenit players were pissed off. Apparently the one thing Zenit have in their favour compared to most teams in Russia is that they are 'united' and nobody's salary dwarfed any others. Hulk and Witsel have upset the apple cart, though maybe through no fault of their own. I don't blame the senior players who helped them get where they are now thinking why they aren't getting a pay rise or something

How dear thee start a thread about a relatively unknown without a youtube clip.

Shocking

He got it spot on, sure the likes of Witsel and Hulk are good, but do they really deserve that much money compared to the rest of the team?

It's like a worse case of what's happening at City, would Aguero accept 120k each week if he knew the likes of Barry were earning 100k a week? He'll want more to reflect his status in the squad and rightly so.

Zenit were asking for trouble when they decided to give Hulk and Witsel that much money.

You're going to have to explain yourself a little better originally if you don't want responses like the one I gave above.

Your analogy is wrong because they aren't doing the same job. You can't just compare football to other industries like for like. Witsel is younger than Denisov. He plays a different role than Denisov. He has more marketing potential that Denisov. He has more resale value. Etc

Unless you are going to argue that all footballers should be paid the same, you have to accept that there will be vast differences in salary. The fairest way to determine this is for each player and club to negotiate of their own free will. Denisov negotiated in his best interest, Witsel negotiated in his best interest. Their deals aren't equal, life isn't always fair and I have a real hard time feeling sympathy for a guy who makes millions to play football and complains not because his club sold their best player (like Sagna did when we sold RVP) but because they are bringing in new talent who happen to make more than he does.

Deserve's got nothing to do with it. It's a free market. Have Zenit broken their contract with Denisov?

Zenit weren't asking for trouble when they brought in top players, they were trying to make their club better. Maybe Denisov is just mad that the no blacks policy has been changed?

Over the top to be honest.

Of course they were asking for trouble when they brought them, yes they've improved the squad with the players but have also disrupted the squad harmony which could be disastrous if it's not sorted quickly.

Okay yeah, it is just wild speculation so I shouldn't have said it. Interesting timing is all.

i think what denisov has to understand is that 1) no one wants to play in russia...and 2) that's why they're paid that much, to get them to go there.....

That have that choice, they could have gone Spain, Italy, England...they went Russia for the money.
