If Sir Alex profits from the IPO

If SAF profits from the IPO, do you think he should step down?

He's an employee of MUFC who's done a superb job for more than two decades, and is having his huge contribution to our success acknowledged and financially rewarded. Why would anyone want to sack him for that?

He may be keeping us competitive, but he could also end the Glazer's if he wanted to. He is the only figure holding their ownership together, and keeping the protests minimal. If he came out massively against them, every United fan on Earth would rally around him.

Him getting some of the cash is better than one of the Glazers pocketing it. And if he's a true transfer muppet, maybe he can part fund a purchase or two himself.

That's absolute rubbish - yes, SAF is hugely influential, but nothing close to that extent. The Glazer's own the club, doesn't matter how many Utd fans don't like it - unless fans start to actually boycott the club (matches and merchandise) the Glazer's are sitting pretty, happily making money.

The implication is that if he takes money from the IPO all his support for the Glazers the 'real fans support the Glazers' line was paid for, since the Glazers are clearly financial vampires.

I can see both ways, to be honest.

If he decided to lead the revolution, he'd be sacked. He's coming towards the end of his career anyway. They'd hire a high profile replacement, ride out the initial shit storm of anger and it will be business as usual for them. It would be an undignified, soul shattering way to end his reign and a real kick in the gut for all of us.

I'd rather he kept his job and go out on his own terms.

I don't see what the problem is really.

I can understand fans' dissatisfaction with some of his comments, but who'd begrudge him some shares as an incentive?

Some people seem to have unrealistic expectations of Fergie, like he should serve the club selflessly for little to no incentive other than glory.

Should he stop taking his salary as well, seeing as him getting paid takes money out of the club?

If anything this is better than his salary, as it costs nothing, and it's an extra incentive for him (and all senior staff) to keep the club as successful as possible, so their shares increase in value. Not that Fergie requires such an incentive to do the job to the best of his abilities, but he deserves every staff incentive going.

Are you also disappointed that he has become an extremely rich man because of United?

Not at all. He more than deserves it. I'd be happy if he was being paid the same salary as our top-earners - I'd argue he's far more essential than someone like Rooney. I simply don't think he should be getting involved in, or rewarded for, the horsetrading of the club.

I'd also add that, while I'd be disappointed ("immensely" was an overstatement), that's mainly a reflection of how much I love the man - and it's never nice when your idols are tarnished in any way.

I refuse to vote in this disgraceful RAWKite/BlueMoon style poll.

Fergie is Manchester United, as far as I care, until the day he steps down. He will have my full support until that day.

and they'd sack him

In respect of the poll, couldn't you just include a simple 'No', without any of the homo stuff and urine drinking? :)

Heh yeah. I would have preferred a simple Yes/No. I imagine most of the "hell no"s are not simply down to blind faith.

Tbh him getting shares really isn't a big problem. I think as a manager he has more than played a significant role in United's profits.

Question to ask is, has he been completely honest about the Glazers?

I think its impossible to expect him to criticize his boss. But has he gone a bit overboard in their support.

Option B for me though. You can't just forget the last 25 years and what he's done.

He can cut my head off and shit down my neck after what he's achieved at United!

If he gets shares as bonus/payment, its his money.
Why would there be any problem with that?

Has he ever done something for personal gain in the past? I'd be dissappointed in him for the sugar coating of the Glazers when he knew what may have been going on. But he is United to the bone and wouldnt want to harm or cause damamge to the club in any way. And as most have pointed out, it is a form of a bonus for the team performences.

It is still a mindfeck to me, between reading the thread here and the twitter shite. I dont know what to make of it (the IPO I mean).

Being United manager is for personal gain:
1) He gets paid for his job

This still means:
1) He gets paid for his job

SAF is going to have to save all his strength for the mass-bumming he's obliged to partake in

So you think he does the job just for being paid? that isnt my point anyways. I mean more of a Harry Redknapp bank account type of personal gain.

No, and it's ridiculous that anyone would think otherwise after all that he's done for the club over the past two decades.

This notion that he could get rid of the Glazers if he wanted to isn't true as well. He could be influential in the matter, but not decisive. They own the club and if they don't want to sell up then he can't force them to, no matter how much influence he has.

SAF deserve a good salary, and I have nothing against the parties agree that parts of this are given in the form of shares

So people are against Fergie being rewarded for actually doing something for the club?

What a bunch of ungrateful cnuts. He's earned it. Get your fecking coaching badges and do as good a job then not take the multi-million pound reward on offer. Hmmm, didn't think so.

:confused:who are these people? You have 2 people that said yes he should step down and 3 that are undecided. 11 have said no and 32 have said they wanna get bummed by a limp 70 year old cock.
