If Ronaldo goes, do we have budget for FDJ and a forward?

It isn't smart to be one or the other, but do the funds get reverted to a forward and we are left stuck with McFred....would be a nightmare, but would go some way to explaining another reason for a FDJ delay.

No. I don’t see why they’d be linked. Utd have probably known that Ronaldo wanted to leave for a while regardless of FDJ.

Ronaldo is on 500k a week. If he goes then either the transfer budget will increase or our salary budget will go to the roof. If the former happen then we will buy a new striker. If the latter happens then I can see us go for someone like Dybala who is a free agent

Can’t see why. Apparently he’s enticed by having the project built around him, not achieving all the success in one year

I am not sure what's worse - this thread being a WUM attempt or a genuine stab at some sort of analysis.

I'm talking purely finances. There has already been noise the budget isn't there for Antony, so the glazers have to be willing or able to find additional funds.

You'd need to replace him next season and at least you'll get about £20 mil for him now.
Think we will struggle to get 10m for him. We didn't even pay 20m last year, so why would anyone offer us 20m now?

A player like Frenkie de Jong is a far bigger necessity for a head coach who looks to implement vertical positional play.

What the hell

Absolute nonsense. FDJ is the fulcrum of the new team regardless of anything else

If Ronaldo leaves will the club go in to administration?
Will the world end?
Will aliens riot?

Why do you have to spin everything negatively? The story regarding Antony is that he’s overpriced and we don’t want to pay 70m. Absolutely right too

If Ronaldo goes, no player will want to come to united, we'll probably get relegated, and I see our club going into administration in 3-4years time

Bad time boys, I'm with you OP!

If De Jong is planning his future on playing with mid to late 30’s players like Messi and Ronaldo, he’s a fecking moron. And like with Messi, he’ll end up extremely disappointed.
I don’t believe he’s a moron.
No, ETH has likely known about Ronaldo for a while, and the Eriksson and other plans are based around that.

Let's all make a thread for every thought we have!

Rather play Bruno as a false 9 than be stuck with McFred in midfield

Ridiculous take. Ronaldo goes, happy days. Bring in FDJ and others who will buy into the ETH philosophy

Yes, de Jong was prepared to leave Barca only to play with a 37 year old Madrid legend. Deal definitely dead, it’s over, had nothing to do with ten Hag.

If anything, it should help.

This current team is built around getting the best out of Ronaldo. And look where that's got us. Everyone is playing worse than the season before (most notably Bruno).

Take Ronaldo out of the picture and it gives EtH the chance to either build around FdJ himself, or to create a more egalitarian team structure. Either way, FdJ will benefit as a midfielder in the engine room. One way or the other, it means more of the play will centre around him.

Word is now coming out that the Barca President has said that the FDJ deal isn't happening.
FDJ still doesn't want to leave and doesn't want to come to Utd.
Barca now don't want to sell, either.
If this is true, it's definitely off !

I don’t see why all the pisstake, it’s perfectly reasonable logic given how the club has been run in recent history by the Glazers..

I think it stands to reason that with a small budget (£120m seems accurate judging by our actions thus far) that we can't just stump up for a striker because the owners won't allow that. Therefore if Ronaldo leaves, we'll need a new striker and IF we buy one then that money has to come from somewhere. Sure we can use Ronnie's wages but that doesn't cover an £80m striker which they all seem to be these days, plus his wages.

If we wouldn't be able to afford a replacement or the owners won't sanction extra funds then they won't allow him to leave. He is still contracted after all
