he aint comming to us. He wants to spend the rest of his career at southampton. Anyway, one of the main reasons that they say Barthez is going is because he is to injury prone but so is niemi!

I'd rather see Robinson here. Allegedly a United fan at heart, plus he's English, talented and has his best years ahead of him.

If a big IF Barthez goes and united get about 5-7mill for him then Anti Niemi (once he gets fit)or Robinson would be a good replacement.

Or Schmiec's :) If he was 6 years younger ;)

Got injured after kicking a simple goal kick. Quite similar to Barthez, isn't it?

But he's recovering from a knee injury (IIRC) and that could very well have affected him in such a way as to cause the new injury.

he will be a good signing..but too bad he's too injury prone..

think the only ideal target now is robinson, rustu, cech or James(No!!!!)

 I think there exists many more "ideal" targets than the names you mentioned above in this world.

Do I really need to? Do you also believe that in this planet there only exists those four players mentioned by shakiraa who are good enough and willing to play for us?

Just thought it's always easy to slag off other people's comments without adding any constructive yourself... just a thought!

I see.... For me Toldo, Valencia's goalkeeper (can't spell his name) and Cudicini are three examples whom I think would be good enough for us. Though i won't be surprised if SAF got someone we haven't mentioned before from a less famous league, just as how he got the great Dane from the Danish league in the past.

I agree with ya on those goalies... I'd be really satisfied if we got Cudicini... but tbh I still prefer to keep Fab!

So do I! Fab is still a world class goalkeeper and his performance has been great in this season.

Toldo
Buffon
Canizares

..are the only keepers who'd improve us IMO.

Fab's been excellent this season... all this slagging off is due to the Real match..(we shouldn't forget that the defence was bollocks aswell)

yup..they are the best GK in the world now..but it's impossible for us to get them..Juve and Inter pay so much for their keeper and won't sell them cheap..
canizares is quite old oredi..for sure you dont want to chance keeper every 3 yrs right..

IMO, we need an influential keeper to guide our young backfour, and one who has the charisma to perform at international and European level. These are my candidates:

Rustu Recber - only 27, strong leadership qualities
Sorensen - also at 27, could he replace Schmeichel
as another legendary Danish?
Cudicini - EPL goalie of the year and has stamped his authority despite playing behind the influential Desailly
Niemi - proven qualities but injury-prone

Others worth considering for long-term investment: Jurgen Macho, Tony Sylva (Senegal, Monaco), Abbiati (AC Milan)

Only 5 keepers on the planet I'd consider as an improvement on Fab, 2 are definitely out of reach:

That leaves these 3 as signings I'd like to see:

I think
robinson_orange.jpg
wouldn't be bad in the long term, but he doesn't give me the confidence that we can go and win the CL next season with him in the side.

I also think we need a keeper with more experience given the fact our defence is kind of young.

Just my $.02

Toldo almost 32+.
Buffon need 30 million.
Robinson is too young.

If Fab leave united, what fergie want is a "finished good", he don't want a "row material".
p/s:finish good=a player who can just play well with experience once have been signed.

If Fab is to be sold then Canizares for me would be the ideal replacement. He's vocal and could command the back 4 plus he's an excellent shotstopper and keeper. The only down side is he cant control his aftershave bottles ;)
