In terms of our squad and going forward, what would you do if you were the powers that be over the next two windows?

sell or release whoever you want and bring in who you want.. but it’s got to be realistic.

things to consider: free players and players coming to the ends of their contracts in the summer or the following summer, loans and a realistic budget. Also who we can sell to give us maximum spending money. One or two players won’t be enough.

interested to see what route you would all take to make us as competitive again as quickly as possible..

what would the starting 11 look like by the start of next season?

The Glazers get found out to be related to Putin, the club gets seized by the government and we get sold whilst the funds from the sale are held in frozen accounts.

Ronaldo leaves and we bring in a striker

The Glazers sell to a non-cnut. OK, to someone who is maybe 80% human, 20% cnut. And they buy Liverpool.

If the Glazers bought Liverpool and did to them what they’ve done to us… would that make them United legends?:nervous:

Shifting away from feck the Glazers, which I wholeheartedly support but does not answer OP, I would say the ideal scenario would be the following in terms of the squad:

1. Get rid of Ronaldo (January the latest);
2. Buy one of Gakpo or David in the January window;
3. Continue to give Garnacho starts and to start giving more minutes to Iqbal;
4. Sign up De Gea on a more economical deal;
5. Sign a long-term CF in the summer (ideally Osimhen) and more cover at CB and RB.
6. Sell AWB, Martial, Henderson and one of Lindelof or Maguire.

More CM cover would be needed too but I doubt there is enough in the summer budget after big spending in 2022.

For what most of us want, I'd be surprised if it's possible in two transfer windows unfortunately... Well, it would be possible for some other clubs, but not us while we have they who shall not be named in charge. Incompetent.

But I digress, we need to remove Ronaldo, Jones, Bailly, Maguire, Williams, and Wan-Bissaka from the squad it seems. Maybe there is a player that can develop under EtH in Wan-Bissaka, but it looks incredibly likely that we'll need to cut our losses.

I am sure a lot of people think we need to sort out the goalkeeping situation which seems strange. Do we keep Dubravka? Will Henderson have a way back or do we need to sell? Surely Heaton is surplus to requirements, but if he is on a low salary it can't hurt to have another experienced goalkeeper around I guess. There's probably big question marks on Van de Beek, some of us surely think Fred & McTominay might as well be removed and upgraded, but I'm resigned to them being dealt with later down the line. At least they give 100% when they play, we just can't be starting them together.

Let's say we did get shut of the first six players I mentioned, is there enough money raised there to fill the positions we really want fixing when our usual budget is added? Bear in mind we overspent in the last window apparently just to get where we are now.

Ronaldo and Jones will probably have to walk for free to get rid of them. Bailly, Maguire, and Wan-Bissaka will take some seriously good negotiating just to get back half what we paid IMO. Williams and maybe some other young players deemed not good enough could add a few million. Our main income is probably coming from a Henderson sale, but it depends if we actually do sell him and who to... In the end, I think we'll do well to raise £80m in sales which basically just refunds what we overspent on Antony.

Feels like a bit of a mess, but I'd hope we can get a striker, right back, and CDM in. Maybe a CB if we manage to sell Maguire, Jones, and Bailly. Had high hopes for Tuanzebe so hopefully he can make an impact?

January: Ronaldo leaves. We carry on doing what we were doing until he started starting again.

Summer: Sign Striker, sign DLP. Move Harry on. Sign cover for CB’s.

Striker we should sign is Martinez from Inter.

I think it's generally accepted that we need to do three things, firstly we need to sign a younger striker that can play every week. Ronaldo is done and Martial unavailable. Secondly, we need to resolve the goal keeper situation, by bringing in a new keeper with better distribution of the ball. Thirdly we need to continue to prune the squad, AWB, DvB need to be sold and youth given options in their place.

Despite the performance at the weekend, we're heading in the right direction, sure there's going to be bad days, but we're getting there.

Sell Maguire, AWB and Donny, Ronaldo to leave on a free, bring in four replacements. Not too fussed about GK situation, but I can't see Henderson staying (doesn't want to be a backup, not good enough to be 1st choice).

Fred, McTominay and Lindelof probably stay another year further down the pecking order unless one of them really pushes for an early exit, in which case cash in.

We still have to sort permanent exits for Axel, Jones, Williams, Telles and Bailly. Pellistri presumably too. Elanga should be loaned out (likely with a view to a permanent move however he potentially could be a useful squad option.

I hope two of Hannibal, Diallo, Laird and Fernandez can join the first team squad. Garnacho seems a given already.

We have Dumb and Dumber as backup to Varane/Martinez.

As a minimum we need to give Ronaldo a decent extension, and look at picking up Toney in the summer. Can probably get Phil Jones to cover right back if we really need too, so AWB can do one.

Really don't think we need to spend much at all.

Hi Joel,
When we asked for more engagement with the fans this wasn’t what we meant.

Aside from the Glazer stuff people are mentioning it's obvious isn't it?

In - CF, RB, CM, another CB and possibly another attacker/ GK
Out - Ronaldo, VDB, Lindelof/ Maguire

More interesting is what we decide to do till the summer as that's a real challenge.

I don't believe anything will happen in January. In the absolute best-case scenario, Ronaldo leaves, and we bring in someone that can play #9.

Best case scenario in the summer: Ronaldo, De Gea, Jones, and Axel leave on a free. Lindelof or Maguire are sold. Henderson, AWB, Williams, and VDB are sold. Starting ST, GK, and CM are signed. Long term replacement for Varane/3rd choice CB and backup RB are signed.

The budget is highly likely not there for all of that. We will probably need to choose between a new GK or CM. The club will likely choose a CM and give De Gea a new contract.

I'm 100% positive that we will sign a ST, CM, 3rd choice CB, and backup RB.

Elon Musk fails miserably with Twitter, everyone mocks him, he desperately needs to find some love, he buys Man Utd and makes us the Greatest Football Club ever.

I think we need a striker, a better version of Eriksen and a backup right back.
I think Ronaldo, Van De Beek and Wan Bisakka should be moved on. I wouldn't really want to start any of them again outside of desperation (were pretty desperate for strikers admittedly).
I think any player on loan is probably for sale for whatever we can get.
I think Maguire, Lindelof, Fred, McTominay should all be on the chopping block. A bit of churn is healthy, particularly in a squad as patchwork as ours. None are bad players, none are particularly suited to the football we'll be playing. I think we could still get enough of a fee for them to make it worthwhile.
I think we should start weeding out some of the wingers in the squad. Theres a lot

We probably need a new keeper but De Gea is getting close enough to filling the role that i'd feel guilty about giving him the chop. A ruthless manager probably would.

He won't leave in Jan if there is no one coming in which I fear is indeed the case

Should be looking at Tielemans/Aouar on a free,also Ndicka could be an option next summer as his contract is up too. These are shrewd deals which would allow us to spend big on RB and of course a number 9.

Players have their wages adjusted to their level of performance.
