ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Coming to PS3 in HD?

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus look like they could be coming to PS3 in a reworked Team ICO HD bundle in Q1 next year.

That's according to a report from TheSixthAxis, which confirmed that the pack was coming to PlayStation but that it wouldn't arrive until early next year.

A bit of a wait, then, but Sony does seem to be all about releasing collections of much loved games recently.

It was only last month that we announced the UK release of the God of War Collection. Good times indeed.

The coming of the Team ICO Collection was first hinted at by VG247 earlier today.

Never played either, but I've heard nothing but good things, especially concerning SOTC.

So .

I would cream my panties if this happened, i played through SOTC not long ago again and still loved it and was as amazed as i was the first time. In HD it would be absolutely insane.

ICO i was never too fond of, couldn't get going with it.

Hehe, Mega64 are brilliant.

A good excuse to post some of the best music from SOTC, such a good soundtrack made even better by the fact that the majority of the game all you hear is your horses footsteps.

ICO was absolutely amazing. First game I ever sat and played through over a weekend, cancelling other plans and becoming a proper geek. I was about 14.

Wow I remember the campaign they started to get remakes of these two games, guess it paid off.

Ico truly was incredible and way ahead of it's time, this is really good news seeing as I'd lost my disc and the game's worth an absolute fortune now.

Wasn't the point of SotC to go around killing innocent giants whose only crime was to be, well, big?

Pretty much, but you at least you had a motive. And most of the time when one of them saw you they did try to kill you so i'm going to go with self defence.

One of my favourite moments in any game is when you first see what you're up against.

;) I did say he had a motive Weaste, and a pretty good one at that. Although going off the word of a disembodied voice in a temple based on a legend was never going to end well.

I really hope that the HD

helps show the deterioration of the main character more (was he called Ranger?). Because i only noticed when i played a second time how pale he was at the end of the game and how there were little marks on him.

Wanderer wasn't it? I think that it will be far easier to pull off SOTC in HD than ICO, which was quite an early title. A little more complicated than GOW I feel, as ICO I think would need changes to the artistic assets.

SOTC seems like such a bizarre idea for a game, it's amazing that it seems to have worked so well. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say a bad word about it.

I don't know a great deal about ICO.

Fumito Ueda is one of the jewels of the video game industry IMO, mainly due to his originality, nobody else really comes close, but maybe they are not allowed to do so. Even though none of his games have every been blockbusters in terms of sales, Sony still gives him quite a free hand to do whatever he wants to do.

It is true, i was told about it when it first came out and thought it sounded shite. There are only 16 enemies in the entire game, you spend most of your time wandering around (cheers Weaste, don't know where i got Ranger from). To kill the boss is as simple as stabbing it repeatadly, i couldn't get my head round the fuss.

When i finally got around to playing it i saw exactly what it was all about, it's been said before but it's the closest a game has ever come to being a piece of art.

ICO though i i didn't get on with, i never got far and so will be seeing that basically for the first time.

I've had a 2nd hand copy of SOTC in my draw for about 3 years now and have never gotten around to even trying it.

My PS3 is one of the backwards compatible ones too. May have to give it a try... if I can peel myself away from the other 12 games I have in a pile to get through since I bought an xbox as well to play the exclusive stuff.

Having the best of both worlds but only limited time to play is a right bummer.

The much-rumoured Team Ico Collection has been listed on the French Amazon website.

The collection has been long rumored but as of yet remains unconfirmed. The Amazon listing brings yet more credibility that it is, indeed, real.

Sony's president of SCE Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, recently suggested that it is looking at releasing more classic PS2 games remastered in high-definition.

While this may simply be a reactionary move on Amazon's part, Yoshida's earlier statements will certainly lend the listing some credence, either way until Sony officially confirms it, the rumor mill will keep on turning.

finished SOTC for the first time yesterday, great game if somewhat easy, ICO is the better one

not sure about HD remakes, part of their charm are the bleached graphic stylings

still, they're certainly games everyone should play at some point

Famitsu has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 versions of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus will be upped to HD quality for their release on PlayStation 3.

The magazine has separate information boxes for each game, so it seems like they'll be released separately here in Japan. Both are listed date TBA.

The two games share two pages of coverage with The Last Guardian, also listed as date TBA. The magazine shows three pics of each.

From what I can see, there are no further details on The Last Guardian or the two Team ICO classics. For ICO and Shadow, the magazine simply recaps what the games are about.

Could never really get into ICO but loved Shadow of the Colossus, would be awesome tot play it again in HD.

I imported GOW Collection, and will do likewise with this, if needs be.

This will be a worldwide release. It's now the third annouced/released remastering of popular PS2 games, with GOW being the first, and the Sly Cooper collection available shortly. They either couldn't crack the PS2 backwards compatibility through software nut, or they prefer to do it this way to make more cash. I don't think that it costs them much to do, the two GOW games were converted in 15 weeks each.

Interesting however that Sony Japan just filed a patent for an external device (read USB stick or similar - maybe a PlayTV sized device) to give PS3 hardware PS2 B/C.

Good stuff Weaste, i like the Sly Cooper games back in the day so i might grab them as well. The only thing i hope they do differently from the GoW games is that they upgrade the video sections as well. It looked strange going from HD Kratos to slightly blurry Kratos in a video, then back again.
