England will beat Ozzie in the 3rd Test.
Mahmood and Panesar in for Giles and Anderson.

Panesar will get a ton load of wickets and the 1st innings Mahmood will hit a century in just 50 balls batting down at no. 8.

Warne will accidentally fall on the boundary in an attempt to catch a Panesar square drive and shatter his rectum.

why would you prevail with Harmison over Anderson?

Harmison has been on a steady decline for two years now and doesn't look to be snapping out of it.

Anderson's on his way back from injury so will only get better and showed some real promise over the weekend.

him and Mahmood both.

i'd play both of them.

sshhh...i'm not back.

i heard about Noodle's forum and just had to check it out.
Seasons greetings, my advert inventing friend

This isn't really my forum. That was just some sick joke on the part of the cricket conspiracists

The WACA is apparently likely to accommodate spin for the first time in living memory according to some gimp on the radio this morning. Make of that what you will.

I would not have thought you would be interested in Cricket, with your Somali origins.

   i grew up in fecking south east london, the areas full of aisians with cricket bats, dont mind it my self and ill be supporting england this year. theyll still lose though

Has Sultan never heard of the Somali test side?

They could be seen practicing in the background of some of the fight scenes in Black Hawk Down.

Probably.

or not

Yes.

You should be.

The word origins is deeply hurtful and derogatory. It is normally used in sentences like "Robbie Fowler has Liverpudlian origins the Scouse twat". ;)

Desert cricket is brilliant. When we lived in UAE there were expat Indians and Pakistanis who played every weekend even when it was 50 degrees. They used to flatten the sand with a huge discarded excavator tyre towed behind a car and over the years the sand became compacted to the point where a solid flat sand pan existed. Great for bowlers but I'd guess a nightmare for making diving catches. We used to stop and watch from the road when doing a booze run up to Ajman.

try playing footbal with 10 other marlis, on sand they all think theyre ronaldinho, bunch of ball hoggers, and ime one of them too

I really feel for those guys.

Shame

It seemed to be the highlight of their week and a way to get away from work/living compound. As you know you get worked very hard in UAE with only one day off per week and Health and safety issue are pretty much ignored.

Still, for many the money they could send home put a roof over their families head and food on the plate.

The occupation I really felt sorry for were the housemaids. Get the right (usually ex-pat) family and you were set. Gte the wrong (usually local) family and you were in essence a 24/7 slave. We knew of cases where they were prevented from writing home, weren't allowed out unless with their host family and worked 24/7 for 2 years solid. You even got cases of wages being withheld for no reason. since most of them were maiding to send money home to their kids it was doubly heartbreaking. There were also lots of rumours of sexual abuse. On our compound one family kept losing housemaids because of the way they treated them and our housemaid would have to get letters dropped secretly from the toilet window and post them home for the trapped girl.

Yes, I've heard these stories.

I am lead to believe labour laws are now changing big style. With the rapid growth in the emirates there is now great demand for quality employees - which is making the employers wake up.

Long way to go though to before they reach the standards we are accustomed to here.

Agreed. Some of it is inevitable being just plain different.

I doubt the treatment of housemaids will change that much mind.

Health and safety will improve but it will be slow.

clearly just a ploy to make 'us' play Giles again.

i swear to god, if he plays again, or if Jimmy gets dropped, i'm cutting all cricket out of my life and putting my Flintoff autobiography + autograph on ebay.

don't think i don't mean it either.

i'm nothing if not a woman of her word.

look how well my, "I'll never post in the Caf again!" is going.

( )

anyway...my team for thursday,

1 Strauss
2 Cook
3 Bell
4 Col/ingwood
5 KP
6 Flintoff
7 Read (for Monty's sake...tho not too bothered about Jones)
8 Mahmood
9 Hoggard
10 Anderson
11 Panesar

any variations on this theme will be met with scorn and derision.

I'm worried that people will expect too much from Monty. He's good, but he's no Warne. I expect him to take 4 wickets in the test match though. Perhaps 5.

and Superman Returns is fecking awful. I can't believe I watched that last night.

ok...
it's too late for Monty, i fear. he should have been an unknown quantity playing right from the off...but instead he's now being hailed as the saviour of english cricket before he's even bowled a ball. that's far too much pressure!

and making him ferry drinks back and forth has made him look like a right twat!

if he wasn't in the team because of his batting, why the feck was he sat there on his arse for 10 days? why wasn't he practising in the nets. then at least he would have given the impression of a caged animal!

who the feck amongst the aussies is going to be quaking in their pads over the waterboy?
didn't see Superman. can't be worse than Casino Royale.

To be honest, I don't think they were ever quaking in their boots. As I said, he's good, but he's not a Warne, Murali, Saqlain or a Kumble. But he's definitelt better than Giles, even taking Giles' batting into account.

Superman was so bad. . .that I find it hard to believe Casino Royale could possibly be worse.

alright, obviously i didn't think they were literally quaking :p

watching Casino Royale was like being tied to a barstool for two hours while a lecherous, deeply unattractive, slightly sexist cretin tried to sleeze his way into your pants.

whilst not being allowed to drink.

Harsh

Though it was boring

But then, you lot watch cricket, at 2 in the morning

I'll be at the Dentist's during the first session.

It'll be arguably better than watching the first day of a test at the WACA, given the state of the pitch these days.

i tried the staying up thing for the first test...we lost badly.

i tried sleeping through it and checking the score in the morning for the second...which started well, then went pear shaped.

this time i'm going with sleeping through it, avoiding the score all day then watching the highlights.

it pays to experiment.
