The psychologically challenged have flooded in here while I have been away I see. It has been very remiss of me to leave you lovely, lovely and unique individuals to fend for yourselves for so long. I am ashamed of myself.
In particular I feel sorry that I haven’t been moving amongst you tending to those afflicted by Narcissistic Personality Disorder. This terrible affliction demonstrates a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), a need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood (so not fully developed for many of you yet) and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:
1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents such as managing a football team, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements i.e. not just winning the CL on Championship Manager)
2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, ideal love or leaping in to save United by doing what should be obvious to anyone who knows what they are doing. In particular there will be a preoccupation that Mangers with superb track records have now lost all their ability after a couple of bad results.
3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people, institution or those other poor deluded dears who occupy the transfer forum.
4. requires excessive admiration even if it is only from those similarly afflicted individuals.
5. has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations even if the person not complying (say SAF for example) is brilliant at what they do and don’t know that the mentally disadvantaged person in question has even been born.
6. is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends. They will often resort to abuse under the mildest of examination but will cry life a baby if anything is said in return. No matter how mild or justified.
7. lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others. Unless someone shares their delusions of course.
8. is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her. This is usually justified by the personal conviction that you could manage United better than Fergie if only the fools at the PLC would appoint you.
9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes. Particularly if not 100% agreed with.
10. is often manically depressed after disappointment e.g. United lose to City for the first time since 1989. There is also a tendency for this syndrome to evolve into Dramatic/Erratic/Antisocial Personality disorder. But we have plenty of time to deal with Canadian Dees problems later.
Needless to say that I love you all and I want to immerse you in my loving bosom and fondle you back to heal my lovely lovely dears.
Large cheques for private consultations can be sent via Niall (you can take your usual cut darling).
