I was torn between putting this in here, and the CE, but given that it's a film, I thought it should go here.

Anyway, I took the other half to the cinema last night, to watch the award winning portrayal of the 1981 Irish Hunger Strike. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1981_Irish_Hunger_Strike

It really is one of the best films I have seen in a long time. Some of the scenes in it were very hard to watch, but it showed very well the personal side of the political troubles here in Northern Ireland, for those involved at the core.

Have any of you seen it?

wow, definitly going to have to go and see that next

You really should. Amazing film. The only one I've ever been to where the audience sat in total silence throughout.

On the topic of trailers, I seen a trailer for W. Any idea when it's due out here?

I've seen it, was very impressed with the cinematography.

But the film was definitely for those who already knew the story. If anybody is going into this not knowing about the 1981 Hunger Strike, I'd suggest to read a slight bit on the background before.

Great film though.

Apparently the scene with Bobby and Father Dom is the longest single shot in cinematic history (give me a few mins to verify).

"The film is notable for an unbroken twenty minute scene, where a priest played by Liam Cunningham tries to talk Sands out of his protest. In it, the camera remains in the same position for the duration of the scene. To prepare for the scene, Cunningham moved into Fassbenders apartment for a time while they practiced the scene at least twelve times a day, sometimes repeating the scene fifteen times in a single day. It is thought that the scene is one of the longest ever scenes in a mainstream film"

It is really is brilliant. I got so absorbed in that one scene.

Watched there now

All I can say is that it really is an amazing film

best film I've watched in a while, awesome
