How will England do ??

I really hope they get at least to the semi's.
I think it all depends on Owen, Beckham, Gerrard, Ferdinad and scholes. If they play well we could even go all the way.
I personaly cant see France winning it again. I think the Argies or Italy will be in the final.
Its gonna be weird not having Holland there, there always good to watch.

I think England should be expecting a semi final minimum. The team they have, have the capabilities when in form to do alot of damage to teams.

I still think France are the best in the world at full strength and in form, followed by Argentina and then England.

Dark horse = Australia

;)

France , Argentina and Italy the top three

England, Portugal and Brazil the next three.

Teams to watch: Poland, Denmark and Germany.

Quarterfinals? I don't know, they need to have consistency. It would be nice to see so many United lads shine on the world stage, but for me, France is up there with Argentina. Though no one can underestimate the Brazilians if they do get through!

Denmark and Poland are the ones to watch, too. Germany should get through cos' judging from the first leg, Ukraine wasn't too good even with Schevchenko. ;)

They will be Quarter Final at their best (in case Owen and Gerrard can last as long as that), and may even find it difficult to get through group stage if either Becks or Owen is unavailable. Besides, the world champion need to have good players in every department. It's just a joke to compare England's defenders and Goalie to that of Italy, France, Argentine, etc.

IMO, England rely on only 3 players, Beckham, Owen and Gerrard. If one is not playing well or is injured, England simply don't play that well. Defensively, I have not been too impressed with England. I have seen smaller, weak nations just tear into Englands defense and show them to be second rate. England only automatically qualified because the official had gifted Beckham with about 10 free kicks before he finally made the last one. IMO, even if England play well, they won't get past the qúarter finals. If they get in a tough group, England will have to rely on the officials winning them matches, and not due to their footballing superiority. Basically, if the opposition can mark 3 men out of 10, England will be finished.

I tend to agree with most of this..

Gerrard, Owen and that other geezer are key...

England also need to hope that they do not come across tactically sound managers, such as the Portugal boss from Euro 2000

"Mark everyone but the Nevilles and wait for them to give us the ball"

;)

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> Tactically superior to KK! Don't make me laugh. Portugal is team team I want England to meet in next years WC. I'm looking forward to the revenge and seeing Figo whinne and throw his shirt after Portugezzers are defeated!

Quarter Finals at best, going by England's history. If they play like they have played against Holland in the Euros and recently against Germany (although Germany were dreadful) they will perhaps make the semis.
