How the mighty (well, Ronnie Wallwork) have fallen..

Why would he do that? He has probably earned several million as a footballer without actually being any good at it, are footballers really that thick with money that they end up broke? Then they should hire financial advisors, there are dozens of them per square meter.

Looking at who he played for and when, I'd estimate he'd have made at most 3 or 4 million throughout his career.

Now you take out of that the price of a reasonably nice house, £1m, a couple of nice cars at £75,000 each and you start to see where the money disappears add the running costs of all these things and 3 or 4 million doesn't actually go that far.

Yes, we could all live comfortably on that amount for the rest of our lives, but you try doing that and resisting the temptations that are out there when several thousands of pounds are going into your bank account each week....

Gangsta gangsta! That's what they yellin'! It's not about a salary, it's all about reality!

he used to gamble in a casino i used to work at in central manchester,he had some really pikey loooking friends he used to come in with who loved to help him spunk his cash, they were all gold sovereign rings and chunky gold necklaces and the lot of em looked liked they´d had their hair cut by mates sister who´d once gone to beauty school for a week and now roamed the council estates giving all n sundry some lovely blond streaks.

Describing him as a United 'star' is a bit much.

Mind you, still has more PL medals than Steven Gerrard.

Trained with him a few times when he was at Stockport County, was a good lad and a funny fella, never imagined this back then though.

well he wasn't Maldini but I thought he was a decent player. I'd say his social activities did for him. Seen bad company do for a lot of potentially good players. Just hope it doesn't happen to Morrison.

He has basically been on a full-term contract with United for seven years and West Bromwich for six years but spent lots of time on loans for both clubs. I guess he was on a small wage before he made his debut at United and even then he probably didn't receive a very good offer as he was never important to us (19 appearances, what the hell!). He played a little more for West Brom but he was still mostly a reserve there. You're probably right them I imagine he must have been on about £8k to £10k for most of his career. And yes, I can easily imagine a footballer spending money recklessly.

Our young player of the year in 96.

I can't think of any other Red who's fallen this far. Pretty sad really.

Football: Fergie eyes Euro treble | Sunday Mirror Newspaper | Find Articles

Fergie is also set to unleash on Europe the 'new Steve Bruce', central defender Ronnie Wallwork, who has bad memories of Belgium - he was banned there a year ago for life after allegedly assaulting a referee while on loan to Royal Antwerp.

That was reduced to 12 months on appeal and applied only to Belgian domestic football, so he'll have no problem when United go to Anderlecht next month.

But Fergie has no worries about Wallwork, saying: "He's like Brucey - he knows when to attack the ball and when to drop off. He's also a brilliant passer of the ball."

One of SAF's rare mistakes

Hardly Fergie's mistake. Ronnie had bags of potential.

Ravel Morrison take note.

Jesus christ leave the fecking kid alone.

Treating heresay and rumours as the truth shouldnt apply to our own fans. The last time he was in any trouble offically is ages ago at this stage. Its been widely reported by our coaches and in the media the he's knuckled down alot (which was needed tbf).

Its bad enough seeing the media start a witchhunt but I hate seeing our own fans jumping in on it.

(rant not really directed at the above post, more a general one!)

Fair enough. The last thing that I heard was that he'd been nicked for something or other again. I'm not getting on his back but I'd hate to see such a talent pissed up the wall because of friends in low places. If he's keeping his nose clean, then good luck to the lad and I hope he's soon a first-team regular.

EX United player Ronnie Wallwork jailed

BBC News - Ronnie Wallwork jailed for 15 months

What an absolute idiot of a person. He had the world at his feet, but trouble followed him wherever he went.

Almost banned for life for attacking a referee
Stabbing in a nightclub
now this..

Makes you sick that someone with so much can carelessly throw it all away.

ah.. hadn't seen that thread..

Apologies for re-posting.
