I may be the devil, but i'm not a monster
Seems to me that its quickly heading the way of WRC. You need only look at it now Germany is off the list that things are really getting out of hand. Classic tracks replaced by the shit served up by Tilke with little to no character. Even Hockenheim one of his earlier designs (admittedly nowhere near as good as the original) was not completely horrendous to be replaced by one of his modern "art works" which will probably be dropped (Korea/India anyone) in x number of years.

The whole sport has just gone off a crippling tangent. The move from v10's was tolerable because the v8's still sounded fantastic, but the new turbo era and the Greed of the promoters has killed its romance.

And then the morons bang on about the Costs of F1 but change the regulations every 5 minutes driving up costs.

feck me just strap a prius engine onto the old v10's, call it a hybrid and go racing again...

I stopped watching a few years ago. And this is having grown up racing, watching every race since the 1990s, having a wife to be who worked in F1 and knowing plenty of people involved in it. Its just boring now. I doubt it will die but the declining popularity will take a long time to reverse.

It lost the spark for me when Button won. Up until that point the car made a difference but even in the Schumacher era the best drivers were generally at the front and challenging, be it him, Alonso, Hakkinen, Raikonnen or whoever. From 2009 onwards the rules have made the car design far too important. Now anyone can win if the team interprets the rules well.

The changes coming in for next season are a decent step in the right direction.

All it really needs is a season of non-dominance, people got sick of Red Bull now people are sick of Mercedes.

Honestly even though its boring as feck at times, I would still watch it out of sheer habit. However I'm not gonna pay for Sky F1, so they can choke on their own greed. I'll watch the occasional race on channel 4, and occasionally stream the important ones (such as today).
Taking it off terrestrial TV is the killer for me. A whole generation are right now growing up without it, so it will be bite them in the future

I still love it. Taking it off terrestrial was always going to lose viewers and it's a lot harder for new fans to start watching

Give everyone the same cars and actually have a race with overtaking instead of a procession...

I am not sure it's just that. Before I could watch Schumacher domination for years and watch races where he leads the entire race(even after first pit stop) and where he overtakes everyone for complete lap and still found it fun, but last few years are really boring to watch for some reason.

I stopped watching after the 2009 season. Got the race on now though, but doubt I will have it on for too long.

The cars aren't as nice and colourful anymore

They all look the same mundane dullish grey colour

It's just so painfully boring - I used to enjoy it 20 years ago but I find it unwatchable nowadays.

I don't know whether it's the rules or whatever (pit stop removals, whilst perhaps safer made it a lot worse) but it's quite an achievement to make racing at 200+ mph so devoid of excitement.

Plus, I really hate Lewis Hamilton...everywhere and seems like a complete bell end.

If Rosberg wins the title, I won't watch next year.

I can stomach a dominant car if the best driver still wins the championship (as has been the case with Hamilton in recent years). But when a completely ordinary driver wins by default because every other top driver is in a massively inferior car, that would not sit well with me at all. At least when Button won, he still had competition from non-Brawn cars.

A Nico win would taint the sport from my point of view. There'd need to be a series of big rule changes for me to come back because this isn't the F1 I fell in love with.

I will stop watching football if Manchester United doesn't win the league, I mean, it's not fair ffs, I support them and they should win everything, feck plastic clubs like Man City or Chelsea. :(

I used to watch every race until about 3 years ago. Now I watch about half the races.

I like Hamilton, but I don't support him per se. If Vettel became champion, I'd have no issue. Rosberg winning by default undermines the idea that the F1 champion is the best racer in the world. At least when Leicester won the PL, they did it in spectacular fashion by playing out of their skins. Nico's been handed this on a plate.

That season is why I stopped watching F1. Button won 6 out of the first 7 races and he then didn't win a race thereafter. Just looking at his record again and the guy only finished on the podium twice times in the last 10 races (once 2nd and once 3rd). I don't recall what it was but I remember early in the season Brawn had some kind of technical advantage ahead of all the other cars and as soon as they were level pegging they were nothing special.

There were far worse drivers than Rosberg.

It's not going to die, but I'm genuinely unsure how people can watch it in its current state. Cars are dull, drivers are dull, racing's dull.

The Nordschleife would make things more interesting.

Though people complaining about unexceptional drivers winning titles is a little baffling, this has happened plenty. Jacques Villeneuve won a title ffs. Nico's dad won one only winning one race that season.

Yep. That season tested my patience as well. This season is even worse. Other than Verstappen, I've not seen anything special.

As a kid, I loved watching it, even remember races in 2000. Really did love it up until about 2008. Firstly watching Mika Hakkinen and Schumacher. Then the breakthrough of Alonso (though I never liked him) and finally Hamilton.

I watched when it was dull. I watched when ordinary drivers won. I can't be arsed sinking 4 hours of my weekend into the sport when both of those those things are evident.

Apparently I have to keep watching something I find boring, uninspiring and non-competitive.

I've always thought they should do two races per circuit, one for the constructors championship, then a spec race for the drivers. Regardless, the engine token rules have destroyed the sport.

It is going the way of snooker at the moment.. both peaked in the 90's, still hugely enjoyable in the 00's with legends competing with the new generation of greats but fallen off the cliff now. I can barely sit down to watch 5 minutes at the moment.

Fair enough.
