How good is Beckham?Is he overrated?

This is a truth about David Beckham.How good is he?
As a football fan for 18 yrs I honestly think David Beckham is a good Player not a great player(as projected by english media) like DiStefano,GeorgeBest,Maradona,Cryff,Zidane or a player with class or vison like Costa,Aimar,
Veron,Rivaldo,Nesta,Davids,Viera and other classy midfielders.

David Beckham is a hardworking sincere footballer,an excellent team player and more of
a work man like player like Figo.Moreover he plays for us.

People all over asia admire him bocs of his good looks rather for his soccer skills.

Maybe England has not produced a good player after Gary Linekar and once the media spotted a good player like Beckham they projected him as a great.If he was born in Brazil or Argentina
he would've gone unnoticed.

Those(new football fans esp: kids) who rave about
his freekicks should watch Platini,Zico Stoichkov,
Hagi and co b4 making judgements(Please try to do
it b4 typing something?)

Why is he special?

Not overrated at all.

As John Gregory once said, Beckham could hit a football into a bucket from anywhere on the pitch. There are possibly 4 other players in the world who could do that - one of whom is also a United player.


Becks' form is bit off, that is all.

Overrated. In Europe he is quite good, but close marking in the EPL means that many defenses are able to contain his crosses, etc. Also, he seems to want to play in the centre, which is bad because he leaves the right open at times and can't get in any crosses. He cannot play in the centre because he does not have the ability - cannot tackle very well, not such good dribbling either. He works hard and loves the club, but I think that he wins many fans largely because of the noble image he casts(being a family man, etc.) and his prettyboy features. He is a great player no doubt, but if Fergie wanted to sell a big name, Beckham would be my pick(after Veron, f course.)
