How does that betting thing work in uk?

never understood the betting system in uk.

for ex:
Man. City - Draw - Liverpool
-- 9/4 ---- 2/1 --- 11/10 -

if i bet lets say £100 on either of the options, how much do i get back?

in sweden, its quite different:

Man. City - Draw - Liverpool
--3.30---- 3.25 --- 2.15 -

whuch means a city victory will give you back your bet multiplied by 3.3

The way i always thought of it was if the odd is 9/4, then you get 9 back for every 4 you put on. So if you put £4 on you get £9 back, £8 on £18 back, £12 on £27 back etc etc
