An offer Blackburn couldn't refuse imo.

We give them £15m PLUS Dwight Yorke AND Quinton Fortune for the services of Damian Duff.

Sounness gets Yorke, the striker he wants to partner Andy. He gets a very capable International LW in Fortune, AND a cool £15m.

We get the best and most versatile young midfielder in the Premiership. A United fan, who would undoubtedly jump at the chance of playing for us, winning trophies, playing in the CL etc.

Partisanship needed.

Any amount of money to piss off the Bindippers.

Too little.

We can afford 15m, plus it gives us an ideal path to allow Fortune to play first team football elsewhere in the Premiership...as well as Dwight another chance at the same.

Another feeder club in BB.

We give them Yorke Cole and fortune and pay their wages and take their star effectively.

Walker would be turning in his grave.

Shearer, shearer.

£10-12m plus disco and quinton should do it. didn't sourness say that he would listen to £12m from the dippers?

I think they would be bonkers to refuse it and Fortune going the other way would also be more reassuring for Duff (all those stupid games QF HAS to play to make the WP grade).

I would probably haggle to chop off 2-3m quid but, at the end of the day, it would be good business for all anyway.

Blackburn haggle for Yorke because they have to get the money out of their pockets but in a swap his perceived value is closer to the 6m we wanted. Duff leaving would leave them needing to go shopping, Fortune pretty much sorts that out. Brilliant.

It makes alot of sense really. 15m plus both players may be a bit too much. We should probably start off with £12m plus Yorke, and then progressively bargin our way up to £15 and use Fortune as a final carrot. I don't think BB would refuse that. Furthermore, Yorke and Fortune rarely play for us. Both players have already more than paid for their respective trasnfer fees, and so it wouldn't be any loss to us to see one or both of them go - particularly since Fortune could replace Duff on the wing for them.

i don't think i would want to start off with £12 & disco.. offer £10 & disco and then dangle quinton. i would rather hold on the monies then hold onto either disco or quniton. quinton, although he has done a wonderful job, will never be more then just a squad player so i wont be to sad to see him go. he wants more first team football so offer him before we start throwing more monies at BB.

What about Jansen wasnt Fergie interested in him? i think the pricetag on jansen would be a good 13 million?

I'm sure Blackburn couldn't refuse it. I hope we could.

Unfortunately Raoul, reality hits and cuddly Pete and the board controls our purse strings.

More worryingly, according to Kenyon, Fergie has exactly the same thoughts - no more purchases.

How about a gentleman's wager. I think we will aquire at least one more player before the season starts. Any takers ? ;)

I dont think we will sign another 'well known' player.

Not for more than 2 million anyway.

is 2m the cutoff then. I'll take that...

So you lot think they would be happy to replace Duff with Fortune (who?). I doubt it but who knows if they seriously want to get Yorke, they must be mad. Still there is a big difference - Yorke used to good, Fortune has never been good enough for Premierhip except maybe for the likes of Bolton or WBA.

BB has a very good midfield as you noticed last year and they probably want to keep it that way so I suppose they would be more interested to get someone like Berger or Barmby than Fortune in exchange. Can't really see Duff coming to Man Utd.

yeah i dont see Blackburn accepting Fortune either, just because we want to use one of our castoffs as a makeweight for their best player doesnt mean theyll see it the same.
Afraid to say it, but i think Duff is on his way to L'pool as they seem to be the only ones making any serious running for him.
Besides..as much as i like him as a player, we didnt have any problems in attack last season, at least not enough to justify the money men shelling out another 12 million +

Obviously we can't push everyone we don't want to another club and expect the other club will simply accept them all.

Not just anyone. Fortune plays Duff's position and is good enough to walk into any Premiership midfield (spare us and Arsenal) and start consistently imo. He's got Prem, CL, and International experience and is just 25. Blackburn would snap him up in a heartbeat if he offered him as a part of a Duff deal.

don't think the club would survive very long if, after paying silly money for Rio, we go and get Duff for practically 25m!

10m + Yorke is good enough, if they don't want it, bye bye, we'll do without Duff.

big diff, QF's not bad at holding the fort in Giggsy's absence, plus Forlan's pretty good on the wings, and has a good cross

Oi! That was my idea, and you've nicked it to make yourself look clever! ;)

And somewhere else before, when I just said Yorke + Fortune + Cash.

You are forgetting the 12m pounds

That's good money for Duff. But there is more, they can also have Disco, who they clearly want and strengthen up front and, for good measure, they also get a decent LW so that they don't have to go shopping.

Of course, Blackburn might want the luxury of keeping Duff but that deal would be irresistible IMO, for both clubs and all players involved.

Souness is desperate for a striker. Press has linked him to buying Gudjohnsen (why on earth would he take a step backwards like that) for 15m, in which case Blackburn would definitely have to sell Duff.

My idea of Disco, Fortune, plus cash is better though.

I have been mentioning a Fortune+Yorke plus cash deal for Duff for weeks. I don't believe they would refuse.I wish the Kenyon's thought of this

So it was yours idea after all, not Weastys ;)

I didn't forget the £12m, I just don't rate Fortune high just because he plays for Man Utd. In my opinion they'd prefer to take just cash and Yorke and I don't really get that Yorke part of the deal either but it's Souness, anything can happen.

And another thing, how would the deal involving those three players be good for all players? Yorke would earn much less and be probably on the bench again, Duff would be on the bench (earning more though) and I'm not sure Fortune would be playing either. Who said he'd walk to any team except for Arsenal and Man Utd is wrong IMO, what I've seen from the guy hasn't been anything special. But then again, I'm not biased, you lot are.
