How about a forum where a more prominant and more knowledable posters can discuss United affairs. The current one has so many memebers, so many muppets, so it's hard to have a meaningful discussion. On top of that, so many times the topic discussions head in a wrong direction because muppets like litma post off-topic rubish to provoke people. Quite honestly, there are times when I just don't feel like posting on the forum because some crapy (non-football) discussion takes over the thread. I envision a forum for all 1000+ post members + some by invitations as well. We don't have to limit only to United fans, justo so it would not turn to a praising cult (altough I doubt it).

Anybody else feels this way?

I discuss the topics in question. Gutsy et co used to hi-jack threads, but for certain reason it isn't happening anymore.

I can see where you're coming from, and I agree that it seems like every single thread lately gets taken over by either subtle wind-ups or blatant muppetry. However, a separate forum isn't the answer. I don't think post count really indicates quality, and the newbie forum seems to be working out pretty well with its quality-over-quantity approach. So besides that, how do you objectively choose the "good" posters? It seems to me that that could easily turn into a kind of elitist, exclusive thing, which would defeat the purpose of a public message board. Also, except for the few cnuts who slip through, it seems like we're getting some very good new members thanks to the newbie forum. It wouldn't be fair to exclude them because they're new. Hopefully, given time, the few people who consistently and deliberately take threads off track will either get bored of it or get banned.

How do you decide who is a muppet and who is a "proper" fan? Or will there be no criticism allowed, as generally any criticism is deemed to come from muppets.

What BusbyReds said.

Sorry Alek, this idea just wouldn't work....

Maybe there's a case for the less extreme approach of deleting posts deemed to be a blatant wind-up rather than banning?

That might be a good idea. It would probably accelerate the "get bored of it" part if all their wind-ups were removed.

However, I don't think their should be a blanket ban on wind-ups, provided that they are done in separate threads, rather than being used to take legitimate threads off topic.

This isn't koptalk, where they have about twenty forums and one for the reserves and one for those who pay last time I checked. Surely things aren't so bad where people have to be excluded for having an adverse opinion to yours? Particularly when much of the debate here is started by non-regulars.

Honestly I don't mind the inclusion of these muppets and WUMs. Although I don't abuse them myself, I actually enjoy seeing our fans telling them to 'do one'. ;)

Ok, It was just an idea, don't crusify me now. I am just concerned that lately hasn't been any normal discussion threads.

There's a difference tho between different opinions and deliberate, constant wind-ups.

And who will decide who is a muppet and who is not? I mean, in my opinion, someone who write these sort of topic is a muppet. Should we ban you for that?

Though the situation now is not as perfect as we hope, I still believe that the majority of the forumers come here for the purpose to discuss United-related affairs with fellow fans. How many forumers are interested to wind up other fans by continuous saying bad things about United, I think it can be counted by one hand. On the other way, there are also very few forumers who have more interest to slag and humuliate other forumers than to discuss United affairs. I think the mods here already have a good standard to ban those badly-behaved fans, wum and abus. If the situation doesn't deteriote further that the fans who only want to discuss start to leave, there is no need to further do any action, in a risk of defeating the purpose of open discussion in this forum.

You don't have a line to come back with, but you will say whatever, just so you will have the last word. Is that how you got 26k?
