Been a while since I've been to Old Trafford and actually stayed in a hotel. Pal of mine taking his 10 yr old lad to a game. They are looking a hotel near old trafford. Is there any decent ones that aren't too pricey you'd advise for him,

You could probably book a premier inn in Salford Quays or Media City. Just a couple of tram stops to Old Trafford.

Unsurprisingly prices get ramped up on a matchday

If they want to save money then better off staying a few Metrolink stops away (probably need to go further than Salford Quays) and then jump on the tram to OT

Even if you stay in city centre its only 15 mins out to the ground on the tram. Id stay away from hotels on portland street though. Stayed in a few there over the years and they werent great.

I genuinely thought this was an appreciation thread for some new indie-electro band or something.

Everyone should stay in the Britannia once in their lives. A true experience.

If its anything like the one in Nottingham (currently the ritani) then I concur. Definitely an experience.

Stayed there after Burnley at home last Christmas so I could have a night in town rather than bus it back to Tameside.

Got propositioned by two women over 65 on the way to my room and someone was smashing up the lift mirror when I buzzed it.

Cost £24 - 5/5.

Yep, they're definitely consistent!

Does the one in Manchester do a brekki? I seem to remember staying in an fantastic location near Picadilly that offered scrambled eggs that were - by far - the most effective laxative I've ever had.
