Whenever I host a game on COD everyone starts lagging and gets pissed off with me. Problem is for some reason whenever I'm in a party and we go into a game it always puts me as host.
My internet is Virgin 20gb so there shouldn't be a problem but it's getting pretty annoying. Anyone know how to sort it out?
Also, every now and then my laptop loses connection and won't reconnect unless I reset the router which makes me angry. Is there a reason this is happening or does the internet hate me?

He does slow things down quite a lot but I can't help but think it's something else.

I had this problem. It was fairly difficult to fix but this is how I did it, Distribution routers aggregate traffic from multiple access routers with regards to COD4, but not necessarily on CODMW2, either at the same site, or to collect the data streams from multiple sites to a major enterprise location. Distribution routers often are responsible for enforcing quality of service across a WAN, so they may have considerable memory, multiple WAN interfaces worked on COD W@W, and substantial processing intelligence.

They may also provide connectivity to groups of servers or to external networks. In the latter application, the router's functionality must be carefully considered as part of the overall security architecture. Separate from the router may be a firewall or VPN concentrator, or the router may include these and other security functions.

When an enterprise is primarily on one campus, there may not be a distinct distribution tier, other than perhaps off-campus access. In such cases, the access routers, connected to LANs, interconnect via core routers.

In enterprises, a core router may provide a "collapsed backbone" interconnecting the distribution tier routers from multiple buildings of a campus, or large enterprise locations. They tend to be optimized for high bandwidth.

When an enterprise is widely distributed with no central location(s), the function of core routing may be subsumed by the WAN service to which the enterprise subscribes, and the distribution routers become the highest tier. Therefore if you've not got that setup, your CODMW2 hosting will suffer.

Cheers for the help Sc40lesy, but I couldn't be more confused as to where to go from here!

He's having you on. All he did was copy some stuff from the wikipedia page for Router.

You watching porn or downloading stuff off the internet whilst playing COD?

Can't say I am. That would be quite an achievement.

Welcome to why Activision are a bunch of assholes. If you were playing on a private server, a la previous CoDs, would you have this problem? No, you wouldn't. You should play it on console like everyone else since they really don't care about pc gamers...

I'm stepping off my soapbox now but still not buying MW2.

I would advise you not to download the multiplayer crack to see how bad the ping can be at times.

I'm playing it on the 360 mate!

You might have 20mb Virgin broadband but you might want to check and see if that is the actual throughput speed you are receiving.

Virgin try and sell their product on th basis they use fibre optic cables and have fast speeds but in the small print or the legal splurge you will find that hardly anyone can receive those kind of speeds.

You can do a DSL check on your postcode using the sky website.

I remember checking it and it was around the 16mb mark consistently and went upto 18mb every now and then. The weird thing is I never used to have a problem on the old 2mb internet on COD4 when I was hosting. It's just the new COD or new internet or new router. Thing is I don't really know what I'm doing with stuff like this other than the basic stuff.
