I noticed it was not mentioned in the guidelines. Is there a reason for this not
being excluded along with racism bigotry etc. If I was gay I would find large parts of the Cafe uncomfortable to say the least. Personally I'm sick of the
slurs and the use of the pathetic "gay" smilies to denigrate posts.
(Yes I know I'll get a load of them now, but I don't give a shit)

You are both racist and gay!

When did this place become so hyper-sensitive?

:annoyed:

See depends what the extenr the 'homophobia' or whaever word you use is. Most straight guys are quite homophobic. Infact its pretty natural, but whether that amounts to directing abuse or taking any deregatory/harmful/aggressive action towards homosexual people, is the point in quesiton.

 Well I did'nt think I was being over sensitive. But anyway, I've made my point.

Everyone is hyper-sensitive thesedays.

What happened to the days when you could call people (like dublin) a raging homo cnut, without being banned? ;)

You still can.... its the context in which it is used.

Devilish used the word Homophobic the other day

Unlike La Liga or the Serie A, the EPL is a fairly new land for South American and Southern European players. Legaces take time to develop + players tend to prefer to take the beaten track rather then risk and go and play in a league which they have to adapt to. That doesnt mean that we should be homophobic and close the doors to new talent. Im sure that Chelsea doesnt regret signing that frail looking forward from Sardegna Italy.

I think he meant something else though.

The Mods started it with AIDS/Murderers/Gashout. It was always going to kick the ball rolling to censorship.

It's only fair after all, who is to deem what is more offensive to everyone than something else?

Sorry to mention it, but one of the better things about 'the other place' is that anything goes. And yet no one says murderers, uses AIDs as mud to sling, or taunts the women on there with Gashout. So much of the reason it was done on here was because Mods were telling people what to say and what not to say.

Footy forums are for macho guys. Otherwise, go to www.handbags.com

Does that mean this place isnt a football forum anymore? Or do you mean macho guys that speak nice. mind their manners and dont make other people eSad ?

I don't see why, just because you love taking cock up the arse, that you should be treated any better than anyone else. If someone was ugly as sin I would still take the piss. So why the hell should I not be able to abuse someone for being gay. It might not be very nice, but then I am not very nice. The point is that loving cock should not give you any special protection.

Its standard group psychology. The CAF is quite a busy site and a few basic guidelines were published to encourage participation from a wider audience. The 'anything goes' concept might work for smaller sites whose members all share the same background, but not on a larger site that is truly global. The guidelines that the mods posted are there to facilitate wider participation, without alienating anyone because of their gender/background etc.

So why not if they are gay, ugly or fat?

Why do fatties or ugly bastards deserve any less protection?

That's the problem...

That's hardly a problem here since no one knows what anyone looks like, but like anything, if a particular issue becomes problematic to the extent that it begins to detract from us talking about football, then it would need to be dealt with.

Did Gashout? Or AIDS? Or even Murderers?

The only problem came when you tried to stop people saying it. It just made people worse...Those shouting Murderers would have got bored if you'd just let it go, as they have on RR. Im not sure it matters about the background of the person, or how big the board is. Red Issue is bigger than here in terms of numbers, but they still manage to let people say what they wish without it getting in the way of Football talk.

The thing is Van, you have RR now.

If it's so great, then just go there.

One way or another, people need to just let it go

Babs and a few others manage to post on both forums without being gay about it. Others on RR have let their ego's get the better of them. You seem to be the unfortunate one caught in the middle

Then it sounds like RedIssue is the place to go for anyone who wants to do whatever they want with no consequences. :)

Seriously. At the end of the day, this is still a privately owned site, and there is no such thing as complete freedom of speech. Like any other format, there are rational limits that we all operate under. The admins are here to create an atmosphere that encourages everyone to participate. Anyone who is so disturbed by basic posting guidelines, might have better luck posting at RedIssue or some other site. This place has more than enough members to continue to thrive for a long time.
