Hofland and Van Bommel

Watched the delayed telecast of the Leeds-PSV game this morning, verdicts on the 2 players:

Hofland - made some sloppy passes and not physically dominating enough although his tackles were neat. IMO, not good enough for us and is NOT the kind of centre-half we need i.e. a mean tough S.O.B. It's a little worrying that Kenyon has already asked about him when speaking to Van Raaij the PSV chairman, looks like he's joining us although I really do hope we can land someone better and more physically powerful.

Van Bommel - what a excellent performance! Provided great coverage and is a fantastic passer. Looks like a young Keane. This guy rocks, wish we could buy him too unfortunately our midfield is a glut and the Arse are going to get themselves a real star if they sign him.

Van Bommel ... you know what - I already take note of him while checking on RVN previously when we were following him ... I like this guy really lot ... I will be gutted if Arse get him ... shit ..!!! .. He has gone in the press and said before the only BIG enough team which he would join in Man Utd !! ... but like you say ... we are already too packed in the middle of field ..

I am not a fan of either of them. I think Hofland is so overrated it is crazy. As for van Bommel. He is a good player, but not better than anything United have and would simply sit the bench because he couldn't add an additional deminsion to the midfield.
 
I didn't think Hofland or Van Bommel were particularly effective against Leeds. Hofland made some retarded Wes Brown like, errors. Van Bommel played ok.
 
i've seen Hofland play a few times,,and i've come to the conclusion that he's a very good CB..one for the future. Anyone can have a bad performance..
 
In Hofland's defense, he's been injured or coming off of an injury (seemingly) every time i've tuned in to watch him.

I think although Hofland is a good player, but he is not the sort we need. Simply not big enough. But if the coaches think they can make him into a better player then they should pay the money. It's all up to the management really. They are the professionals.
