Edit: To clarify its Field Hockey not this Ice hockey business, I've had stick for a long time for playing it but to be fair unless you've tried it and realised how brutal it can be then you've no idea.

Ice Hockey is pretty cool man - quite hard & tough but exciting. You should have a look at Hurling - the Irish field game & fastest ball game in the world - officially - thats some hard shit - puts every game with sticks firmly in its place!

I like the look of Hurling - i watched a game last year whilst waiting for our game to start - that looked as rough as Tarzans feet! There's none about though locally so i'll stick to the Gayers hockey for now.
And yeah it'd be a struggle without a stick, but i guess the amount of times i've hd my feet hit that could probably be classed as a stick now!

It is pretty rough - i've broken fingers, my thumb, toes, nose and also cracked my skull! got hit behind the ear with a stick.
I've also seen a bloke lose half his ear when he got hit on the side of his head with a ball.
Suddenly i'm trying to work out why i've gone back to play again!!?

You've quite a bit of injuries man, some bad one's by the looks of it. The ball you use is bleedin heavy - wouldnt fancy a smack of that nor a smack on the ankles with a stick - some folk pay good money for that kinda shit though

yeah the ball is stupidly heavy, penalty corners are pretty much an initation to hurt somebody.
I got hit on the knee too a few years back by the ball, nothing broke or anything but my knee was twice the size it should have been!
Probably the most painful was when i got hit on the thumb, The nail on the thumb was bent backwards from about 3/4's of the way down. Sounds like nothing but it was stupidly painful!

Yeah it did leave me with a sense of well being - however it isn't something i'd do unless I had to. Some of the mental images i have been left with will scar me for life.
