Highlight Thread

Problem is videos often get removed when Copyright holders see them, so you'd end up with a load of "This video is currently unavailable" videos after a week.
 
True, but what if we did it on a per week basis instead of per month.

For example, if United play 2-3 matches in a week, a thread with all the goals etc could be stickied and then the videos/links to videos deleted the next week and a new batch put in place.

Because as it stands now we have multiple posts, over multiple threads, of highlights and goals which potentially say "This video is currently unavailable" ...if we can find them that is...instead of having a sticky with the vids, potentially saying "This video is currently unavailable".

This idea would not only make finding goals/highlights easier but would make managing dead links easier too.

I think most people wouldn't be looking for highlights of games that were played weeks before, so that shouldn't be that big of an issue, usually people want to see the highlights of the latest game because they missed it and that is basically the point of the thread.
 
Even if some links become unavailable, I'm sure there would be more than just one link for each game if many posters try to find the highlights and that shouldn't be an issue either.

I don't think the Mods will open a new forum just for the highlights, but a sub-forum in the Manchester United Forum would be nice. However I think, just a sticky thread for the highlights for the whole season would be enough.
 
Why not tag them on to the end of the matchday threads then they are easy to navigate and all contained in one place. The threads generally go quiet after the matches but if people chatting around the highlights means they sink back into the thread rather than residing on the last page then we could prune back the chatter and lock the threads once the highlights are all in.

It would mean less work for us and less forum clutter and give a greater purpose to the matchday forum. It would also mean that the mods ventured more into the matchday forum (I know I never do as I can usually watch on TV unless I'm stranded somewhere stupid in which case there's usually no internet either) which would give us a better chance of weeding out the cocks who try and stuff up the threads.
 
Good idea Bury Red, works either way as long as they're kept at the very end of the Matchday Threads BUT one thing is that as you try to find highlights, sometimes you find better/extended highlights like one or two or more days AFTER the game, so if the thread is locked then the highlights can't be posted.

For example I found some low-quality highlights for the goals from the last game and posted them immediately but a little while later I found better and longer highlights, and two days after the game I found the entire match and posted it, so I kept updating it, which can be a problem if the thread is locked.

Why not just a sticky for the whole season like there used to be one for the goal-scorer's stats last season?

Not a whole new forum just a sticky thread, and only highlights get posted on it, that way it's very easy as all the games can be found in just one thread with no other posts, other than the highlights. That way we can keep updating the highlights for each game as we find more...

Not really too keen on more subforums and stickys just tend to make the place look untidy. Is there no mileage in tacking the highlights on to the end of the matchday threads as I suggested?

It's not a bad idea at all. I liked that suggestion - I was just wondering if any of the suggestions made were going to happen, and if so which ones. I'm guessing the one that's most likely is tacking the hightlights at the end of the matchday thread which works for me:)
