I see Danny Higginbotham got player of the year at Derby by a mile - not saying that much as they're not all that...

But must have had a decent season - as it seems everyone reckons Chris Riggott will move for big money.

Why did he leave United - just for first team football or did he have a falling out?

Don't know why he left you, but he's a very impressive defender. He's impressed me everytime I've watched Derby play. I'd be looking for him to move to a big club sooner rather than later.

Know any clubs with a shite defence who might want him(back)?

;)

You got it wrong there

He won't join a boring team who is going to win feck all

Can't blame him since he played with such a flair team at OT ;)

Yeah, he'll only play for glamourous, attacking outfits in with a shout of some trophies.
Like Derby.

Higginbotham's left is one of the transfer mistake we made. If we keep him, we now have a player who is at least as good as Wes Brown and can play at both CB or LB.

Why he left us? I remember he got a few appearance at the start of last season, then Derby's manager make a offer for him. At that time Fergie said we already have Silverstre, Irwin and P.Neville, and a lad called Hilton was going to break through (Where's he now?), so he agree to release Danny. However at that time Fergie also admitted that in selling Danny we may have lost a player who will become an England international in the future.

If it isn't because Fergie has extra personal favour on the generation of "Fergie Fledglings", the best move at that time is to sell P.Neville instead and keep Higginbotham as a current backup and a future prospect.

Higginbotham never really got a chance at united. My memory could be wrong but i believe there was a rash of injuries , both dennis and P. Neville were injured and Higginbotham got to play a game or two (away to coventry i think was one) and did well. Then someone else got hurt G. Neville? or Wes Brown? Johnson? (maybe all of them) and just when you would think Danny would finally get a run Silvestre was bought and thrown right into the first team. Not knocking Silvestre but he had some poor outings and stayed in the first team.

I've always kinda thought silvestre was given the chance and time at united that maybe danny deserved.

Players became healthy and I guess Danny Higginbotham realized he would have to move on for 1st team football.

It's too bad Danny being a local lad as well as how he has impressed the 2 or 3 times ive seen Derby this season, especially a couple of weeks ago against whom i cant remmeber now.
