I think what is also rampant is opposition without any real action or consequences. People just sitting around, saying this is not good, but not doing anything at all to influence the situation. I am not saying that the poster in question needs to ditch their friends. But I think the question at which point one would do just that is very much relevant. And I think these discussions are very relevant and important right now, because the way things look, there is no actual and meaningful opposition to trumpism in the US.
And the way some people go about these things is nothing but apathy in the face of ascending fascism or at the very least authoritarianism.
Now
@Tarrou gave a very reasonable answer to my question. But this is an important question and the answers give an insight into the minds of an opposition that is yet to form and unite in a meaningful way.
Or put otherwise: looking at the US from the pov of someone who sees the writing on the wall for their own country, can give very useful indications on what to expect at home. So I care deeply about the way people in the west but especially in the USA deal with this shitshow and how they justify their own actions or inaction to themselves and the rest of the world, what their red lines are and what moments can serve as the start of an actual counter movement that goes beyond angry social media posts.
