If Di Cannio's age is no barrier, Batigaol's shouldn't either.

Errrmm...that's it. No links, no quotes, no rumours, just thinking out loud. :D

We are not playing computer games. We need to ask ourselves "Which type of player do we need?" first before go out to find a player. We need a supporting striker, such as Di Canio who always drop back to hold the ball and create the play, not Bartigol who is just an all-out striker.

This wasn't computer-game inspired. Reasons to sign him:

1) We need another striker in case RVN or Ole get injured. He is a quality finisher.

2) He has retired from International Football, so he'd not be affected by International Games.

3) He has indicated an interest in playing in England and United in particular.

4) Fergie rates him.

If he does not cost that much more than PDC in terms of signing-on fee plus wages, I think he'd be a good striker to make up the 4 at United.

What is the basis of your assertion that he is shite? Compared to Di Cannio, Batigoal is shite?
Are you alright?
<img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />
I admit that my last sentence is rather improbable. But your first few are rather mind boggling as well.

Battistuta is world class. Coming to the end of his career, but better than any striker bar RVN that we have had at in the last ten years. He's not coming to OT. Do you watch association football?

Ignorance is bliss. You ain't seen Bati in years. Probably...

Ask a Serie A connossieur like Piersi, and/or Argie, and see what they say.

You must be in a state of permenant bliss then.

Tell Bartigol that he will be a backup who will only warm the bench if RVN and Ole are healthy, and see whether he will come or not. Besides, his wage is also a big issue.

And the problem is that you can't compare Batigol with Di Canio. They are very different in function. Batigol is an all-out striker similar to Ruud or Ole, while Di Canio is a supporting striker similar to Yorke and Sheringham. Now we need to find a replacement for Yorke and Sheri. After we get such a person he will partner Ruud, and then Ole will become a backup for Ruud.

My basis of assertion is religious followin of Serie A for the past 12 yrs.

He sucked last year, and half of the year before that, and he was dreadful in the WC.

Why would you want "Grandpa" to UTD is beyond me...

I'll back Suedesi up on this one. Having watched a fair bunch of Serie A games last season as well as highlights and having a fantasy team, I can say that Batigol was shite in all three formats.
Saying that he couldn't hit a barn door from 3 paces would be generous.

what percentage of the game did the Argies attack England for? and they were hardly passive vs Nigeria.

Batistutaaaa? <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

You mean the old striker who used to be a star, or his twin brother who's nowadays playing shite for those ass roma holes? <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

It wasnt that long ago, and he was worthy of plenty of pitch time for the so-called WC favourites.

Surely he's not become a laughing stock already ?!? :(

Fickle bunch these Italians...

One of the reasons why the so-called favourites flopped so badly. ;)

Another could be Veron.

And yet another could be England's performance against them.

Bati's too old. too bad really.

as much as people here poke fun at Batigol, y'all wish England got one like him (in his prime).

but hey hey...one trick pony and donkeykong ain't bad...

Boring, boring Raoul: we're laughin' about Bati-was good-stuta, not laughing at your money.
<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />
Anyway, since you are so numb, I have to tell you again that the two sides already agreed for the money to be transferred by August the 31st. <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

And if Lazio fail to pay on that date, and that seems very likely, what happens?

Agreed, he is a bit rusty now but he was phenomenal and those laughing are probably the same who shat when their defenders had to deal with him. Pricks.

BTW, he started out as a midfielder. Of course he has been an out and out striker for most of his career but he was an excellent attacking midifelder and that actually showed in his glory years at Fiorentina (if the ball didn't come he would go down to the midifield, get it and work his way to the box, which he can't now, obviously).

probably the best (and most feared) striker of the last decade...

Well, to show his decline, last season in the CL I was praying that Capello would select Batistuta vs the Pool. that should say something.
