You would think that these stupid rumors would stop after the transfer deadline... :rolleyes:

hmm, arsenal made a loss of 33m € last year ... dont think henry´s contract´s running out tho .. he´d have been sold if it was running and he didnt want to renew it
 
Really and truly, looking at that link I was just thinking these feckers must have nothing better to write about. I'd say they were just trying to fill space on the page and came up with some nonesense. Such crap :rolleyes:

This rumour is obviously just that, a rumour. However the question should be asked - why didn't we buy Henry when he was still in France or at Juve. The Arse clearly got the steal of the decade when they bought him for the reduced price that they paid. He is and will continue to be one of the top 3 strikers in the world for years to come. It would've been game set and match to us for the next decade if we had bought him and then Ruud.
 
It's probably an attempt to bring back some traffic since the Deadline passed ;)

True, but thats where good scouting comes in. Wenger and his scouts were obviously smart enough to buy him despite his not having risen to world class status yet at that point.

after all, who knows if he´d be what he is today had we signed him ... wenger worked wonders with henry ... dunno if fergie would have done the same
 
Scouting as a means to what? Identifying potential? Everyone knew of his potential. It's not a matter of scouting it's a matter of knowing the player in this case (Wenger had him at Monaco) and believing in him. If it's a matter of scouting then we might as well say we should have bought Anelka this summer.
 
I believe Wenger worked with a very young Henry at Monaco. So it wasn't exactly scouting, he just knew him from home!

i thought he was just all pace at Monaco... he's turned in a truely world class player..must admit i didn't think he'd become this good.

He wasn't rubbish, but he played in a position he didn't like (too defensive for him). Wenger was right to make him play at the middle of the attack. Problem : now he would like to play at this position too with France, and there's Trezeguet...

If Ferguson has not tried to buy him, it's simply because he didn't rate him that much (and he was wrong). I remember an interview last year where he said "the star of the next Word Cup will be Vieira, not Henry" (well...no comment). But may be it was just mind games.

I don't think Henry will leave Arsenal, he really likes the club, his manager, London, and his girlfriend is English. ..

No doubt. He annoys me, but you can't argue with two doubles in 5 years. Makes you think how we would've done with him over that span.

He's a good manager but i'd still rather have SAF. The 2 doubles are Wengers only trophies at the Arse. in my mind that points to the fact that he his teams hit their peak and fall away. He's never done anything in the CL.

Was this rumour not doing the rounds for a bit during the summer? Henry is a class player and he would give us the one thing we lack, pace up front. He just seems to get better and better and much as I dislike the Arse 2 doubles in 5 years I think its only a matter of time before they go far in the CL.
