Last night at about 10.30pm i settled down to watch Fantastic Four Rise of the silver surfer on Blu Ray through my PS3.

As soon as i put the disc into the console a loud vibrating noise came from the unit as it was reading the disk.

Assuming that the disc was faulty i removed it and replaced it with disc 1 of Planet Earth. The same loud vibrating noise occured again. I then turned the PS3 off completely.

After about an hour of stewing i turned the console back on and re-tried the same Blu ray discs and they worked fine without any load vibrating noises coming from the machine.

My PS3 had been on standby for about 3 hours prior to me trying to watch the fantastic 4 was it overheated?

Could this be a signal that the Blu ray drive is faulting? Should i look to get a replacement ps3?

Has anybody else experienced any issues like this?

I've only had it 5 months and after spending nearly half a grand on it im a bit worried its buggered.

I spoke to the Sony Customer hotline. They offered to send out a re-conditioned unit to me.

As The PS3 is working fine at the moment i rejected the offer as i have heard bad things about the re-conditioned models.

If it happens again though a re-conditioned model it will have to be!

Sony were very helpful though.
