I am thinking of buying it when it comes out next Friday. I heard that transfer system is not that up to date. Do you know if there are likes of Ronaldo or Kleberson in Man Utd team????

youre better off with fifa if you care about that

thinking????????

it doesnt matter if they have 11 veron's at united, just buy the fecker!!!!

There is also an in-game transfer editor now so you can make the transfers yourself.

I did manage to see the Chelsea squad and Geremi and Duff were there. Also, Beckham is at Real.

Anyway I will stick with playing Winning Eleven 7, pretty much exactly the same game except there are more patches for it.

Unless they've updated the Data in the game it's seriously out of date. Beckham is at Real, but we still have Veron. No Howard, Djemba, Ronaldo or Kleberson (and this was in the English version, not the japanese one). And Manchester isn't called Manchester United in the game, its 'Trad Bricks' or something very close to that. You can edit a lot of stuff in the game however, so you can change the name to Manchester and the commentator will even say it, but never the United part.

You can edit existing members of the squad to fix their names, but many of them wont have their names in the commentary. There is the PES Shop in which you unlock things with points earned in the game and with 10,000 points ( you get 50 for playing a game ) you can unlock the free transfer system.

However, gameplay wise it's the best I've played. It's only weakness is a slightly dodgy discipline system (lots of yellows/reds either given or totally ignored.. hmm maybe thats not so dodgy given the real refs performance) and the free kick system I don't like. Other than those gripes, the game play is excellent.

If you are after real squads and kits etc, you may be best gettin hold of Winning Eleven7 (jap version of PES series)and waiting for a patch to be released for it that covers everything youre after, as in the English Evo patch for WE6FE.

check evoweb for the patches.

Yep. The patchmakers have pretty much got everything sorted except for the kits. :(

Stupid Konami had to put an encryption on the kits so it might be a few more weeks (maybe even months) before someone cracks it. I have a patch now with the game fully translated, all the transfers, proper names and badges, boots, chants (Arsenal still have a Champions! Champions! chant :D) and I even put my own music in it, so I can listen to Queens of the Stone Age instead of some japanese techno. ;)

Do you need to get your PS2 chipped before you can play winning eleven or can you use a boot disk?

You don't neccesarily need a mod chip, although many find it more convenient, it is pretty expensive and you need someone experienced to put it in for you.

I, like many people, use the swap trick. I have an old PS2 so I can use DVD Region X to boot up, for those with newer models DVD Region X is probably not compatible, but you can use Action Replay 2. Anyway I boot up with DVD Region X, and then I use a swap tool to open the disc drive, I then put in my WE7 CD and close the drive. It's really easy once you have done it a few times, and it's cheap. :D

If you want more info you can do a search on google for swap trick or knife trick, or I could help you if you like.

Fifa sucks compared to pro evolution soccer/winning eleven...

i know, but fifa´s graphics/design and presentation are better ... so if he cares about that more than about the gameplay hes better off with fifa

I finally managed to get my hands on a copy of PES3. So if you have any questions about the game, then ask away...

here is a picture of Ronaldo in Club Football
They did pretty well on his hair. They would've had to draw that style just for him being that I don't think I've seen any other footballer with it.

Winning Eleven comes out in Japan and Pro Evolution in Europe, other than that it's pretty much the same game. Usually PES has a bit more arcadey feeling than WE in my opinion, I prefer WE to PES. But for those that can't play import games then PES is definately the best football game around.

So you got a copy of PES3??? Can you tell me how up to date the clubs are please. E.g. Man Utd, Chelsea etc etc....Thanks...

I reserved my copy for next fri so can`t wait... I also got the demo and the game play seems much better than PES2 already.

But as I said earlier you can unlock a transfer system and update the teams yourself.

I saw an interview with one of the makers of the game and he said they have to send in their squad lists months in advance to get them approved because they have a FIFPro license, they can't make changes because then they have to get them approved again.

thanks mate, I'm a big fan of Winning Eleven, and I think it's the best football games around. Much much better than FIFA series :D.
FIFA have better graphics when WE on PS1, but on PS2, I think they're pretty much have the same quality in graphics. And comparing in their gameplay, there's no competition ;).

Yeah, the only thing FIFA has going for it now is more teams and more licenses. I think the graphics on PES/WE are better, the players look much more realistic. In FIFA they all look they're bodybuilders. :)
And we don't even need to talk about gameplay. PES/WE plays like a game of football, FIFA plays like a videogame. Simple as that.

PES/WE have now got 6 licensed teams and they all look superb, when/if they get them all licensed it's gonna rule in every department. Just look at Del Piero in PES3:
