OMG... I can't believe that warrants a back page spread. Jeezuz ruud. the sun have crawled all over him.

Why is everyone getting so minstrel about this? These players are gambling half a weeks wages. So fecking what?

the two paragraphs seen on the backpages were taken from a 500 word long interview he gave. Someone in the forum posted his interview for all of us to read.. it was an innocent interview and those comments sounded very natural along with everything else he said..

the papers only took out the two things he said negatively and made it big.. fecking jerks.

ruud is a good and down to earth lad.. i didn't see anything wrong with his interview and still don't.

He said... the players play cards and Fergie likes to win.

...and he keeps his eye on them.

He didn't say anything about gambling.

The sun is a fascist rag anyway.

Ruud came here to learn things-now he has learned an important lesson. The british press feck you over.Today the gambling scandal,by sunday he will be sh@gging Jordan .... <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> ;)

i wouldn't go as far as saying they twisted his words.. it did appear like that on his interview.. he said they play cards for money because they can afford it..

the problem is that the tabloids are making a big thing about it..

look at Eidur.. THAT's what you call a problem.. this is shit small compare to that.

Dun see it as a "can of worms". I think you ha better be concerned about didi hamman's "supposedly increasingly strained" relationship with Hou.

I don't know about the whole dutch ppl, but I did read that Van Gaal is also like that, always tells the truth...

this is such a non story and it makes the sun look so silly with there 'stunning 'story

really what a joke the english press are

by the way this interview has been out since they weekend so i guess the had nothing else to print today

Apart from Fowler theres diddly going on in the transfer market. So the brainless wonders at the Sun decided to re-hash Sundays story. I can hear the editor now. "wow so United players do cards on the coach, feckin' sensation! Get the dirt and get it quick. What? Dirty mags too! Oh this is astronomical! Young men in a sports team who play cards and read mags on a coach what a feckin' scoop!!!"

WANKERS!

People ought to know better than to believe it.

But they don't. C'est la vie.

Ferguson is supposedly not happy with the article and is going to tell Ruud to be more careful when he talks to the press. It was in the Daily Mail and appeared on the team's site.

Ruud van Nistelrooy faces an angry rebuke from Sir Alex Ferguson after claiming that gambling is rife among his Manchester United team-mates. The United striker caused uproar within Old Trafford by revealing that card schools are commonplace on away trips and describing earnings among the first-team squad as ‘obscene’. Ferguson is said to be incensed by an interview that appeared in a Dutch magazine – and later on United’s website – and will instruct van Nistelrooy to be less candid in his dealings with the media

Yea seeing how my husband is a journalist I see alot of this. I would not be surprised though if Ferguson told Van Nistelrooy to be more careful what he said to the press. Just look at the fury the article about gambling caused.

As I already said: The story they copied is not copied correctly.
And playing cards for just some money, what's the problem??? In Holland everybody does that once in a while...

The Sun, The Sun, The only truth in the Sun is None. It's just a lot of fun is The Sun.

Apparently tomorrow's Sun has a back page dedicated to the "stunning" news that Keano's Mental Demons has started a thread that tries to portray United, or a United player, in a negative light.

Well, yeah, I mean, although I can't say I'm not flattered by the media attention, pure tabloid sensationalisation once again.

Fear not though - the Editor has been made aware that I WILL sue for defamation. In fact, my solicitor's reminder should be sitting pretty at the top of his in-tray as I write.

Oh well, tomorrow morning we'll know if the story ever made it to press.

Still, no such thing as bad publicity, eh? ;)
