Have we tried to unsettle Rio?

Listening to Talksport. A few Leeds fans have mentioned that they feel we are responsable for trying to unsettle Rio.

The only official words we've had from O.T. in the whole saga are:

SAF:"We're monitoring the situation. It's not secret we had a bid turned down..."

Personally, I don't feel we're totally responsable for Rio's apparant unsettlement. Rio wants to taste success, which is natural. And we certainly haven't manipulated the media to unsettle him.

With no due respect to Leeds fans, who gives a feck!

What is wrong with us offering a club an amount for a player?

If the club want to sell, they do, if they don't, they don't.

What is the sheep fans' problem?

Anyway, I think Rio signs on Friday...

Not at all. There's no other way such a deal could take place. Rio wants to be a Red and we want Rio, hence both sides have to pressure Ridsdale to do it, both publicly and privately. Otherwise I couldn't be done.

Thats what I thought. It seems because it's us, it's totally different from when they signed him for West Ham...

I would say that United have been pretty fair in making a straight offer before the WC and then backing off when it was rejected. It was the press who then stirred things up after Rio shone in the land of the rising sun and ultimately they have pushed Rio into a situation where he, and his advisers, have decided to force Leeds hand knowing that United are still waiting to procure his services.

I can understand some of the negative sentiments over transfers such as Forlan, van Nistelrooy and Stam as things did get a bit messy. I would not say that United have done anything wrong in this case though and as with the transfers of Ince, Keane, Cantona, Cole and Yorke any resentment is a result of jealousy over the evident attraction of OT to other premiership players.

Alledgedly fergie claimed, through the media, that Rio was his 'number one target'
That IS tapping up in a way, but in a nice sneaky way that we cant get in trouble for
sow the seeds of a move into the players mind, water, give a few weeks to grow, then extract player from club later. :)

Just got this via email...

His name is Rio and he wears the number five
He left Leeds because it is a fecking dive
And when he scores he really shows you all he can
Oh Rio Rio Rio Rio Ferdinand.

Kinda catchy innit?

;)
