Has Bellion signed, or what ???

I was thinking the same thing, anyone got any clarification?

EGBell tolls for United at last
Sir Alex Ferguson has finally landed French striker David Bellion. The 21-year-old player tied up the financial details of his switch from Sunderland to Manchester United last week - and bought a luxury Cheshire apartment just a corner-kick away from the homes of new team-mates Roy Keane, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Seba Veron. Boss Ferguson's capture of speedy Bellion closes a saga that began with the SP's exclusive disclosure last November the Frenchman was heading to Old Trafford. United tried to clinch a deal before the transfer deadline - but an angry Sunderland chairman Bob Murray blocked the move.

I've not seen enough of Bellion to form any kind of assesment, but I wonder what is the story with him? I've heard he played a pre-season mini tournemt against some United opposition and really impressed the United staff, and former Sunderland trainer and current United reseve team coach Ricky Sbragia also rates him. Assuming he is United quality, why has he not shown much at Sunderland, with one of the limpest attacks in the whole country? I guess the United scouts believe he is a diamond in the rough, either that or United' interest is being exggerated by the media. Of course if we do get him and he turns out a bargain revelation that would be sweet.

In current transfer market - I think we wil have to go back to the OLD TIME again .. We can't afford to splash cash like nobody business again ... So if Bellion cost nothing much than a nominal fee - then I think it's really worth it ... We are not buying a nobody here - he has shown enough I believe, to let SAF believe that it at least worth a gamble ...

He's being compared as a Henry Junior just for your info. He hasn't played enough in Sunderland 'cos Wilkinson just don't believe in him .. He scored a marvellous solo when Sunderland beat Villa 1-0 at home middle of season ..

Seen very little of him, other than glimpses on TV. Ran some of our lads ragged for 20 minutes when he came on at Stadium of Light (last season).

He's rated highly by some respected observers of the game. Feedback suggests - a raw talent that would give us width, pace an ability to get past packed defences. Don't know what he's like in the box, or whether he can handle close marking. Could be a superstar in the making, could be back in France in 12 months time.

But with Chadwick failing to break through, we need a wide option on the bench. In a nutshell, sounds like he's worth a punt on a freebie or below £1m.

Some of my mates have seen quite a bit of him for Sunderland reserves. They reckon the best word to describe him is unpredictable.

He'll hit one into the top corner from 30 yards one minute, then miss an open goal from 2 yards the next - you just have no idea what he's going to do.

But one thing's for sure, - he is without any doubt whatsoever the fastest player in the Premier League at the moment.

Aye ive seen him in full flight for the Mackems' this year, i thought someone had fecked with the tele and fast-forwarded it, so fast and graceful when he does sprint.

Would be interesting to see a 100 yards sprint race betwee him and Henry.

On ability i dont know that much, raw talent, obviously pacey, 2 good feet, can play as a striker and as a right winger, can head it resnably well. And a good shot on him aswell.

We'll see what happens, he must be quite good if Fergie is willing to pursue him for this length of time. I think Ricky Sbargia (sp?, sorry.) had an infleunce, seeing as he used to manage sinderland reserves. We shall see, but its better to give him a try if its for free or under 500k, than dilly dally and watch arsenal or liverpool snap him up and take advantage of his abilities.
