Apparently he'll be available in the Summer for about 20m and Poo are interested. Does anyone agree that we could do with someone like Kewell who'd provide cover for Giggs and also play the left wing role when Fergie wants to play that 4-4-1-1 with Giggs behind Ruud.

I think he would be a pretty good signing and 20m isn't that much in today's market.

Nope!! Way too much money for him. He's qiute good, but too much injuries? I say, calm it and let poo waste their money. Instead, go for Damien Duff !!

Shame we didn't keep hold of Jesper Blomqvist really. He was cracking back-up for Giggs during the treble season.

Kewell is one of the most talented and skillful player in EPL, a very rare type of player who can create something from nothing all by himself.
If he is available for less than 20m we should really consider to go for him. Ten times better than Blomquvist and can play in LM when we push Giggs forward to partner Ruud.

Exactly what I am thinking of, in fact, Kewell and Giggsy can inter change positions during the game... what a combination.

Kewell is a great player, but he'd never come to OT to play second fiddle behind Giggs.

Please read the post in the above. He can start as LM with Giggs partner Ruud upfront, and conversely he can also play in the hole behind Ruud with Giggs at LM.

Sorry Gaffer. You're right of course. What are we doing with Scholes, Veron, Forlan, Solksjaer etc etc?

We are talking about having a squad here!!
I'm not suggesting playing Kewell in CM, so that has nothing to do with Scholes or Veron, Forlan is one for the future.

So that leaves Ruud and Ole as strikers, Forlan as backup. I don't think it's too much to have Giggs or Kewell playing upfront sometimes.

I just can't see it mate. Simple. I think Kewell would choose an Italian club who would offer him guaranteed first team football when fit. United wouldn't offer him that in my opinion. I'd love to have him in the squad but I think it's unrealistic to expect firstly him to join us as a squad player (unless he knows he's that susceptible to injury that he'd not be likely to play more games than a squad player would anyway) and secondly I don't think Leeds would sell him, seeing as Lee Chapmans' wife isn't around for Harry to be screwing.

Whether Leeds will sell him to us is another question. I just say that he is a player who can improve our squad and definitely worth us to go for him, IF he is available.

I think Mr Kewell would be a great signing. He would add a bit of width to the team and obviously be a first choice resevre for Giggs.
I'm sure he wouldn't want to be a first choice replacement but then again he would be given the opportunity to play for a decent team with some real good prospects.

He might enjoy the move to OT and get away from the troubles at Leeds and get back to playing football, that is of course unless he gets injured along the way.

I think Duff would be a better understudy to Giggs than Kewell...
Anyway...would be cheaper as well and less susceptible to injuries...
Would make for a cracking brilliant attacking Left/Forward partnership that just oozes Kick Ass... <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Kewell has proven himself in the Premiership for a few seasons and he can also play in the hole, Duff could well be a one season wonder.

I think Kewell would provide better value for money.

Damien Duff at about 12m cheaper would be a better investment. Almost same age, and would have no problems stepping in for Giggs. Kewell would never be allowed to join us anyway, however bad their financial problems were. ;)

Kewell would solve all our left sided problems in terms of Giggs back up. And he would replace Yorke and become Van Nistelrooy's partner as the master of the hole which he would rule like a king. The only porb is Leeds will not sell him to us. Remmeber the Cantona incident? :D

Agreed about Duff being better, especially if BB go down.

As for Kewell: Its laughable to suggest that we would pay that much for a mere backup for Giggsy. Secondly, he'd be better off staying with the sheep, rather than moving to United or LFC.

He might actually win something if he moved to United.

Why would Kewell even want to come to us? He knows he would not be a 1st team regular and would not play champions league unless Giggs was injured. His ego is too big to allow him to be merely a squad player. If he go's it will be to Spain or Italy, O'Leary wont sell him to an English club.

Its never gonna happen, the last time his contact was up he quoted that"he would never play for manchester united" plus he has being hinting a move to spain.

Kewell's basically a superstar. He'll not like playing second fiddle to anyone, even Giggs. And why spend that much money on a squad player? Duffman for Man Utd!
