I can usually put up with comedians that I don't find funny but winning two BAFTAs beating the likes of Never Mind the Buzzcocks and QI was just insane I mean the BAFTAs are meant to be respectable how can they let that tripe win?

The whole silly and immature thing is the whole point of what he does. The fact that loads of people rail against him is part what makes his schtick work.
I mean, if acting like a child doesn't lead to some sections of the audience screwing their noses at you, you're not doing it right. Plus I think part of his act is to intentionally antagonise those people by being deliberately nonsensical and then sharing the joke with the rest of us who're willing to let the 5 year-old inside ourselves have a bit of a laugh.
