This fecking guy.

The absolute state of his acting last night, with the bizarro crawl onto the pitch against Italy still fresh in the memory.

He’s had his own patented “back into airborne defender to try and flip them onto their head” move for ages. Constantly diving for penalties, flopping to the ground to win frees. He’s football cheating incarnate.

Has anyone ever come across any mention of this in the media?
 
Quite a lot of people are hammering him for last night. He did get scrutiny from some for his airborne trick but it was widely accepted. Expect that to be revisited now.

There was a whole thing about his backing into players recently. It was everywhere.

I don't think he embellishes more than any other player but he's probably held to a higher standard than others.

Think it's the first time they've ever really given Kane that sort of scrutiny and criticism, like, ever. Was weird to see.
 
Unlike those pesky cheating southern Europeans, ol’ Harry is just “clever” and “cute” when he buys fouls.
 
I’ve obviously got a blind spot as a United fan, who is fond of a player that is constantly incredibly dramatic but with Bruno it feels like it’s at least partially his personality. He’s a massive drama queen, always flapping his arms and pulling faces. So making a meal out of every foul feels like a natural extension of his personality. Plus he’s a product of a football culture where those antics are less likely to be criticised.

With Kane it all feels much more cold blooded and cynical. Not hint of emotion until he’s pretending a waft of a hand by his face was like being slammed with a baseball bat so he can make sure an opposition player gets sent off. England’s captain displaying values that are the exact opposite of what his football culture is supposed to be all about.
 
It's not is fault I blame the authorities. For too long has touches to the face been made into red cards. I remember lamela and Martial. Martial tapped him on the cheek and got a red. Stomp on a foot is a yellow and tap on the cheek is a red. We don't want to teach kids that violence and physically retaliation is correct but we instead teach them that play acting is the way to go.

Good. He has gotten away with so much being England captain. Even his goal droughts aren’t highlighted half as much as other players
 
He did what every single other player in the league would do if somebody hits them in the face. What is the big deal?

This is a good point also. I was playing last night and was clattered twice, both were right through the back of me to kick the ball. Nothing was said but in my opinion both were reckless tackles and nowt happens. Never really seems to be penalised but hey ho, they guy might just not like me :lol:
 
I see nothing wrong with what he did or has done in the past to be honest. Football and its stupid rules have deteriorated so quickly over the last decade that I don't have any problems with a player trying his utmost to get every possible advantage he can get during those 90 minutes on the pitch. I can easily imagine that you become a very cynical person as a PL striker and the amount of kicks, tackles, pushes, ... you have to endure without anyone noticing. Don't let yourself be bullied and try everything you have to get one over them.
 
He has gotten quite a bit of stick for it in the media last night and today to be fair.

This is true for the majority, but it shouldn't be accepted.

you can be english and roll around and feign injury to get a penalty but under no circumstance do you go down under that kind of contact to the face. imagine doing that in a wetherspoons game on a friday night? you’d be thrown in with the nonces.
 
Does he really cheat any more or less than other players?

I'm not talking about the coverage of the cheating but the cheating itself. They're all at it, from defenders falling over when shielding a ball top win a foul from moron officials, goalies having a lie down after catching a ball (but only when they're winning) to time waste or any outfield player claiming a thrown in they knew came off of them.

Kane absolutely doesn't deserve any protection from the media by the way.

Probably because there was only one game on last night and the incident changed the balance of the game. It was definitely a red but Kane overreacted in a situation he didn't need to. Hands to the face like that is a sending off whether you go down or not, especially with VAR now.

Exactly. Every player would act like that these days, because otherwise (i) it might even go unnoticed or (ii) it's not deemed serious enough to be red-carded. And it's down to how the rules have been enforced these last few years.

The embarassing thing is going down and lying there like you're in need of medical attention after some light contact. Most players don't do that.

Though it's not as bad as Son feigning injury and having the medics come on with a neck brace and a stretcher after having his cheek brushed by a finger.

Most players absolutely would do it - we see it every single week. If you honestly think 'most players' don't then I'm not sure what game you have been watching in the last decade.

I don't remember Fred going down when Ayew hit him or Hughes going down when he was being pushed in the neck/face.

Even when Emerson was hit by Ziyech it was until a bit after the incident that he went down.

Kane went down immediately as if he had been shot, not because it hurt but because he was trying to get the opponent sent off, when he didn't need to.

I agree that he's not the only player guilty of it but it's a bad habit that needs to be stopped.

Take your pick from this melée. Fred and Hughes the two players most obviously getting hands in their face. Neither of them resort to the cheating we saw from Kane last night. The fact that Casemiro still got sent off also prove you don’t need to make a massive fuss about slight contact to the head/neck in order for a player to get sent off.
