Educate me: What countries are good at handball? I remember watching Spain dominate in some competition a few years ago.

How do England/Great Britain usually fare?

There are mostly european teams on a serious level. There some teams which are an absolute world class like: Spain, Denmark, France, Germany, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, Serbia and Montenegro.
Then some top teams like: Czech. rep., Hungary, Iceland, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt. Good average: Austria, Bosnia Herzegovina, Romania, Slovakia ...

And then some poor one... (the rest of Europe)

And England ??? I´m not sure if there is the national team now.

Where are you from Giggsy?

Saw Iceland easily claim their trip to Switzerland today by brushing Belarus aside

Slovakia. We had to fight until the last second, but we beat Austria (away lost -6, home won +7).

Cool, any idea when the draw for the groups will be staged?

nice, bet you're loving it that you made it but the Czechs lost to Portugal ;)

:) and it is very oddly on the one side, because Czechs have better players than we.

true, rather suprised that they lost to Portugal actually

I´m waiting for RC members from Sweden to discover this thread... :D

not sure that Richter or the others can handle it ;)

actually don't remember if they're interested in handball at all

I'm avoiding it for obvious reasons. I love watching the tournaments :(

So we got the draw:

Group A (St. Gallen): SLO, POL, SUI, UKR
Group B :wenger: (Basel): GER :nervous: , FRA :nervous: , ESP :nervous: , SVK
Group C (Sursee): DEN, SCG, HUN, ISL
Group D (Bern): CRO, RUS, POR, NOR

Oh my god...

Watch out GiggsyPO. Denmark will be in the final. We have a great team, and a great coach..
You think that you can qualify from the group.? It looks difficult for Slovakia.

I'm glad to see that Dagur Sigurdsson has quit the Icelandic Team, he's shit :)

But the Icelandic team is really young now and might be fun to watch it. This is actually the only teamsport we are good at :)

Qualify ? I would be happy if we will manage to get one point. And every loss -10 and less will be a success for us.

Okay.
I don't know much about your team, but the three other teams in the group will be fighting for the title.!
Do you have any big stars in your country.? They don't play in the big European clubs do they.?

We have got a good team now, and are working hard with the youth, so that we can improve all the time..

We have just an european average. Only two players from our squad are something special (R. Antl (LW) - moved to Essen and P.Kukucka (PG) moved to Dunaffer). No shot-man from distance like Jepessen. But this tournament can only help us, attract more people for the handball. And the other players can sell themselfs to the better clubs.

indeed, unlucky draw for you

rather strange draw in a way, Group A is way weaker than any of the other groups

And Poland is there. We were lucky to get in.

However, I was interested in handball few years ago, we had a quite good women team in our city, sponsored by my father. Now it seems quite boring for me, but sometimes I can watch a game. :smirk:

And by the way, from which place in Slovakia you are, Giggsy?
