Halo 3 or The Orange Box

I want a shooter game, but some mates are trying to convince me to buy Halo 3 while others say The Orange Box (which is Half Life).

Anyone here tried both?

...or have any advice?

It's for the Xbox360 by the way!

I've heard the Orange Box has a few different games in there that are pretty cool. Myself, I'd say Halo first, but I plan on getting Half-Life later on.
 
Never played on Half-Life but get Halo 3, if not solely for the online experience. It's fantastic.
 
Well Halo 3 for me is a very good game and as I haven't played the previous 2 the gameplay was new to me and I enjoyed it very much. However, Half Life 2 is the best or one of the best FPS ever. The graphics might be a bit dated but it has an excellent story and gameplay. Also the Orange Box contains Half Life 2, Episodes 1 and 2 (they decided to release the continuation of Half Life 2 in 3 "episodes"), Portal (a very good mini game) and Team Fortress an online game with an interesting artistic style. However, I have enjoyed Halo 3 more that Half-Life but that's just me. Weaste will tell you that Half Life 2 is the better game and he'll be right.

P.S. Now I've watched the Orange Box review and he makes a reference to United and Liverpool... He supports Liverpool the fecker...:mad:
 
With regards to the single player games I'd get Half Life 2, I played it on the PC last year and it was tremendous.

Just done Halo and while it's very good, it's nothing groundbreaking and a bit samey. I think the true appeal of Halo is the online shenanigans which I'm not up to speed with.

Halo 3 is the best game, but the Oragne Box is a better deal, if you like Halo go for Halo though because 3 is excellent
 
You should definitely get The Orange Box. Halo is so overrated! And even from people who are Halo-fanboys, Halo 3 wasn't that great. The Orange Box is a box of goodies. Granted, I haven't even finished Half-Life 2 yet, let alone Episode One or Episode Two, but it was worth it only if for Team Fortress 2 (best multiplayer game out there) and Portal (brilliant).
