Violence and abuse is one of the things they are worried also for organizing the World Cup. Unfortuately, the poverty that covers the whole country, encorouges crime. It's easy going politics contribute to a dangerous and frightening increase in crime. Although I must confess, I was in Brazil for 2 weeks and had absolutely no problem. Spent half the day with locals and they knew I was a tourist. Had kick abouts with them all day long and at No stage, did they frighten me, rob me, even be impolite to me.
